The series has been decided in favor of Australia by 2-0 with the third WODI match slated to be played at the WACA on December 11 in Perth. It’s been a one-sided affair for the two teams ever since the onset of the three-match ODI series. Australia Women have clamped down hard on the Indian Women leaving the tourists with no respite.

With many high-profile players underwhelmingly out of form against a star-studded Australian side, it has been a series to forget for India Women. It has now come down to a matter of national pride as India Women brace themselves to avoid a humiliating whitewash at the hands of a dominating Australian side.

Head-to-head record: When comparing the overall head-to-head record, Australia Women have by far looked the most competent side as opposed to India Women. The home side has an overall near-invincible record of 45-10 in 55 WODI games. At home, Australia have also dominated India Women winning 14 out of 19 WODI fixtures against them.

Australia Preview

It has been all too easy for Australia Women in this series. Their domination has hardly been challenged by India Women who have looked all at sea against them. Both their wins in this series have come in a thumping fashion. Megan’s five-fer obliterated India in the first WODI for only 100. Despite losing 5 wickets, the run chase turned out to be a cakewalk as Voll’s unbeaten 46 steered Australia Women to a comfortable 5-wicket win inside 20 overs.

Then in the second WODI, records tumbled as Australia Women registered their highest WODI total of 371 against India Women. Batting was at its belligerent best as Voll and Perry smashed twin centuries at a blistering rate to help Australia achieve a monumental total. It was never going to be easy for India Women to chase down such a daunting total and their batting capitulated well inside 45 overs with Sutherland being the pick of the bowlers with figures of 4-39.

India Preview

India has been blown away left, right, and center and for them, it is merely a matter of survival. Amidst a poor track record in Australia, India Women are tasked with salvaging their pride. Australia have proven to be their nemesis in this format time and again.

The Blues suffered a shocking 3-0 whitewash at home earlier this year and as experts believe, a similar fair awaits them at WACA in Perth. Besides, India Women have not had a huge degree of success in the  WODI format this year and had to contend with a 1-2 series defeat against New Zealand Women at home as well. India’s stalwarts featuring Harmanpreet and Mandhana have been dangerously short of runs and have endured a lean patch for quite some time. While their batting department continues to suffer, their bowling too hasn’t been that penetrative which has further aggravated their woes in this already-lost WODI series.

Weather Conditions

The temperature on Wednesday will be slightly on the higher side with daytime temperatures expected to touch near 38C. However, the lowest drop is expected to be around 28C. Moreover, the forecast suggests a 15% chance of rainfall between 11 AM to 3 PM but is expected to remain clear throughout the course of the day. In addition, there is expected to be a moderate breeze presence of roughly 18 km/hr.

AUSW vs IND-W Pitch Report

The pitch at the WACA is regarded as one of the quickest and bounciest in the world, with the outfield being exceptionally fast as well. It is an ideal hunting ground for the pacers and hit-the-deck bowlers who are looking to extract steep bounce and carry. Moreover, with some weather and breeze around, there could also be some lateral movement on offer with the new ball. But the lightning nature of the wicket and the outfield also presents lucrative run-scoring opportunities for the batting side. Batters cash in and utilize the pace of the ball and score more runs.

Toss: To Bat

As of now, only 6 WODI games have been played at this venue and both the batting as well as the bowling teams have had mixed fortunes so far. Three apiece have been won by the batting as well as the bowling side with the average first innings score amounting to a modest 197 runs.

Hence, by looking at the past records, the toss may not play a pivotal role in deciding the outcome of the match and both teams should back themselves to play quality cricket. Either team batting first should aim to set a target 20-30 runs higher than the par score of 197.
