Bangladesh have beaten UAE in all four of their previous T20 clashes, including the first T20I of this series.

  • Anything in the 170 range won’t be easy to chase at Sharjah.
  • Bangladesh will miss Mustafizur Rahman, who’s on his way to India for the IPL.
  • UAE will look to Muhammad Waseem and Muhammad Jawadullah, who are both in good touch, to deliver in this one.

Bangladesh and UAE meet again on Monday in Sharjah for the second and final T20I of the series. With a 1-0 lead already secured, Bangladesh will want to wrap things up with a sweep. UAE, on the other hand, are just trying to avoid going down 2-0. Given how the first game played out and the overall gap between the two teams, Bangladesh look well-placed to finish the job.

United Arab Emirates Preview

UAE were clearly second-best in the series opener. After allowing Bangladesh to pile up 191 runs, they could only manage 164 in response, falling short by 27 runs.

Still, not all was bad for the hosts. Muhammad Waseem stood tall once again with a 54 off 39, keeping them in the hunt early on. As their most dependable batter, he’ll have to carry the top order again in this match too.

As for the others, Asif Khan chipped in with a brisk 42 off 21, and Rahul Chopra added 35 off 22, giving the innings some spark. Beyond those three, though, the rest didn’t offer much resistance. UAE will hope Alishan Sharafu and Muhammad Zohaib can step up, as they have the ability to steady things or accelerate when needed.

With the ball, Muhammad Jawadullah was the standout, grabbing 4 for 21 in his spell. He’ll lead the charge again. Dhruv Parashar, Haider Ali, and Muhammad Zuhaib can offer support, but the bowling as a whole needs to lift if they want to hold Bangladesh back.

Bangladesh Preview

Bangladesh will take plenty of confidence from their showing in the first T20I. They put up 191-7 batting first on a surface that wasn’t the easiest, with Parvez Hossain Emon smashing a superb 100 off 54 balls. The rest of the batters didn’t contribute much β€” no one else got past 20.

In the next match, they’ll look to Litton Das to give them a strong start. Tanzid Hasan and Towhid Hridoy are both capable of putting together a big knock, and Jaker Ali β€” who topped the run charts in the series against West Indies at home in December last year β€” could be a difference-maker in the middle order.

With Mustafizur Rahman heading back for IPL duty, Bangladesh will need to reshuffle the attack. Nahid Rana might get a run β€” his speed and bounce could trouble UAE’s less experienced lineup.

Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Hasan Mahmud, who combined for five wickets in the first match, will aim to keep things tight again. Mahedi Hasan’s control and ability to keep things quiet early on should also come in handy.

Weather Conditions

The track at Sharjah usually stays even and gives both bowlers and batters something to work with. The surface tends to stay consistent, giving batters a decent platform to build an innings. Early on, pacers can make use of the bounce, while spinners usually come into the game as it progresses. Batters need to spend some time in the middle before they start taking risksβ€”this isn’t the place to swing from ball one.

Weather-wise, conditions will be dry and hot, with no threat of rain during the game.

UAE vs BAN Pitch Report

Sharjah Cricket Stadium has an average first-innings score of 151. The highest total achieved here is Afghanistan’s 215 for 6 against Zimbabwe in 2016. If Bangladesh bats first, they’ll aim for something between 180 and 190. For UAE, a first-innings score near 170 might be their ceiling and will give their bowlers something to work with.

Toss: To Bat

Of the 39 T20Is played at Sharjah Cricket Stadium, including the series opener, 24 have been won by the team batting first β€” a clear sign that defending a total tends to work better here.
