SLW vs IND-W Match Prediction & Analysis
The R Premadasa Stadium will be bouncing on Sunday when Sri Lanka Women, the hosts, take on India Women, the overwhelming favourites, in the Tri-Series.
India Women won the first meeting between the sides on April 27 when they won by nine wickets with 56 balls remaining but Sri Lanka Women then pulled off one of their biggest upsets in recent times when they won the reverse fixture by three wickets with five balls remaining earlier this month.
Overall, it has been an exciting tournament with all three sides picking up at least one victory and none of them getting through the group stage without at least one defeat.
South Africa Women beat Sri Lanka Women in the final group stage game but they are the team who misses out with India Women and Sri Lanka Women contesting the final on Sunday.
TEAMS PREVIEW
Sri Lanka Women Preview
Sri Lanka Women had hoped to come into this game after winning three group stage games in a row but instead they were beaten on Friday in the final group stage game by South Africa Women.
The bowling attack for the hosts did not have enough depth with opener Malki Madara (0/59) and Manudi Nanayakkara (1/40) both particularly expensive.
Captain Chamari Athapaththu conceded more runs than usual but still picked up another two wickets and she will be a threat at the R Premadasa once more.
The skipper hit the only half-century for the team on Friday but all of the top eight made scores in double-figures and they will take confidence from their win over India Women from earlier in the group stage.
India Women Preview
It has been an inexperienced bowling attack for India Women throughout this Tri-Series but their batting line-up is full of experience and could well be the difference between the teams on Sunday.
Although Pratika Rawal (1), Harleen Deol (4) and Harmanpreet Kaur (28) all failed to make significant contributions in their last game, there were still half-centuries from Smriti Mandhana and Deepti Sharma as well as a hundred from Jemimah Rodrigues.
Only seven South Africa Women wickets were taken on Wednesday with Amanjot Kaur leading the charge with 3/59. In this final we expect Deepti Sharma, Kaur and Sneh Rana to cause the most problems.
India Women have an excellent WODI record against Sri Lanka Women and they will begin this final on Sunday with a deeper confidence than their opponents.
Weather Conditions
There is a slight chance of rain early on in the game but overall the conditions, cloudy and humid throughout, will not change a great deal across the final on Sunday.
SLW vs IND-W Pitch Report
This has been an excellent batting wicket throughout the tri-nation series and we expect the R Premadasa Stadium to deliver plenty of runs again in this final. Whoever bats first will be targeting a score of 310+ to have the advantage at the halfway stage.
Toss: To Bat
Three of the final five games in the group stage were won by the team batting first so we predict that both skippers will go out for the toss wanting to bat first once again.
