India's Predicted XI Against USA: Rohit Sharma To Make 2 Changes; Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja Out?

India’s Predicted XI Against USA: Rohit Sharma To Make 2 Changes; Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja Out?

India Predicted Playing 11 vs USA: India will be squaring off against co-hosts and debutants USA for their next T20 World Cup 2024, Group A match on Wednesday in New York. After pulling-off a stunning victory against Pakistan in a low-scoring thriller, Rohit Sharma and co would be eager to add another win to their brilliant World Cup campaign. On the other hand, USA, who are making their first appearance in the T20 World Cup, left everyone utterly impressed with a surprising Super Over win over Pakistan. The Monank Patel-led side, which is filled with some former Indian players, will look to put up a good show against the might India. In the first two games, India’s weakest link was Shivam Dube. The Chennai Super Kings’ most valued ‘Impact Player’ is finding it tough on two-paced tracks where the ball is gripping and coming late onto the bat. But unlike tactician-par-excellence MS Dhoni, who could bench him during CSK’s bowling in the IPL, national skipper Rohit Sharma doesn’t have such luxury and needs to hide him in areas of the field where the ball is expected to travel less. Dube is a monstrous hitter of spinners on good flat decks and his military medium seam-up stuff does give the Indian skipper cushion to manoeuvre with the bowling combination. But in a format like T20, the team management, which asked for Dube at the expense of Rinku Singh, would want him to come good. Else, there is Yashasvi Jaiswal in the 15, who is a way more rounded batter than the big-bodied Mumbaikar. Two wrist spinners, Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav, should be given some game time or else they might just enter the Super Eights a bit undercooked in the Caribbean where the pitches will be more spin-friendly. India’s Predicted XI against USA: Rohit Sharma (c), Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant (wk), Suryakumar Yadav, Sanju Samson, Hardik Pandya, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Arshdeep Singh (With PTI Inputs) Topics mentioned in this article

‘The problem with Virat Kohli is…’: How Sanjay Manjrekar wants star India batter to play in T20 World Cup | Cricket News

NEW DELHI: Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar advised Virat Kohli to play a in slightly conservative approach on hard wickets in New York ahead of India’s ICC T20 World Cup match against the USA.At the Nassau County International Stadium on Wednesday, the third Group A match of the T20 World Cup between India and the USA will take place. India had won a low-scoring thriller over Pakistan by six runs in their previous encounter.T20 WORLD CUP: SCHEDULE | POINTS TABLEThe United States of America defeated Pakistan in the Super Over. With four points from two wins in two games, India lead the group. With the identical win-loss record, the USA is in second position, though their net run rate is inferior. With scores of just one and four runs against Ireland and Pakistan, Virat – the greatest run scorer in the history of the competition – hasn’t had the finest start to the competition. He was dismissed both times while playing aggressively.Virat enters the competition following an incredible Indian Premier League (2024) season for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), where he amassed 741 runs at 61.75 and a strike rate of 154.69 in 15 innings, including five hundreds and a century. Virat had the best strike rate of his IPL career and was quite effective against spinners, using a more aggressive strategy against them.Speaking to ESPNCricinfo, Manjrekar stated that although Virat has adjusted his style in response to criticism regarding his supposedly low strikeout rate, the “old Virat” would have performed better on New York’s hard pitches, where it has been difficult to score runs and batters have played cautiously.“The problem with Virat Kohli is that there has been a lot of talk about his strike rate over the last two years, and he completely changed that during this IPL season. His strike rate had reached 150, although others had almost 200, but that is a different topic. He probably must have come to the T20 World Cup with that same mindset, but given the pitches, the old Virat Kohli would have been much better,” said Manjrekar.“So, I feel someone should tell him to bring back that earlier version of himself and then change again when the pitches become flat,” he added. ‘You play fire with fire…’: Pakistan born-Ali Khan on playing against Virat Kohli in India-USA T20 World Cup match | Cricket News

NEW DELHI: With India set to take on co-hosts USA in their T20 World Cup match at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York, interesting match-ups are on the cards.Ahead of the match on Wednesday, the host broadcaster shared a video of US cricketers Saurabh Netravalkar, captain Monank Patel, Harmeet Singh, Ali Khan and Corey Anderson talking about taking on India.T20 WORLD CUP: SCHEDULE | POINTS TABLEWelcoming Team India to the USA, Saurabh Netravalkar says, “If we play our best game, we can sort of compete against top cricketers. We will try to take one game at a time and not get overwhelmed by the star-studded players and will try to bowl against a batsman and bat against a bowler. Try to keep it simple.”US captain Monank Patel remarks, “You dream about these kinds of things. Suddenly you see yourself with Rohit Sharma on the toss time. It’s unreal. It will be a high-pressure game, we don’t want to focus too much on them right now. We want to play the brand of cricket we want to play against all the teams.”Harmeet Singh adds, “Growing up I used to look up to Rohit Sharma. Rohit comes from my school. I’ll take things as they come. With Sanju (Samson), Kuldeep (Yadav) I have played U-19 for India. Axar (Patel) I have played with him. It’ll be fun catching up with them and playing against them.”US pacer Ali Khan, who was born in Pakistan, added fuel to the rivalry by saying, “Virat Kohli has always been one of the favourites and coming up against him and playing against him, it will be really really good. He is very passionate on the field but so am I. On the field if things get heated up then they get heated up. I mean you play fire with fire. He’s right up there. They call him King Kohli for a reason.”Corey Anderson, who has played international cricket for New Zealand concludes, “That’s the beauty of playing against India. You know that you’re going to have millions and millions of eyes on you and you know they are against you. There are familiar foes that I have faced and played against. You have done this before and there is evidence to suggest that you can do it again.” With two victories in as many games, the USA squad has been dominating the T20 World Cup. The Indian team, which the US team has never played in any format, is packed with IPL superstars.Among the USA team, five were Indian natives. The team’s India-born players include Ronak Patel, Nisarg Patel, Saurabh Netravalkar, Harmeet Singh, and Milind Kumar. In the one and only IPL match he took part in, Harmeet Singh dismissed Ross Taylor for Rajasthan Royals, that was then led by the present India head coach Rahul Dravid.

Watch: USA not taking any chances with Virat Kohli’s security at T20 World Cup | Cricket News

Virat Kohli is arguably the biggest name visiting the United States these days and the co-hosts of the ICC T20 World Cup are taking no chances with the security of the legendary Indian cricketer. The security arrangements for the tournament, especially for Kohli and the Indian team, have been understandably heightened after multiple reports of security threats to the tournament from militant organizations. In a video circulating on social media, Kohli could be seen arriving at the ground surrounded by officials and armed guards. WATCH VIDEO The local authorities in and around New York specifically have heightened security measures, as NY will host the much-anticipated India vs Pakistan Group A clash on June 9 at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium. The governor of the state of New York, Kathy Hochul, said in a statement from her office: “I have also directed the New York State Police to engage in elevated security measures, including an increased law enforcement presence, advanced surveillance and thorough screening processes. Public safety is my top priority and we are committed to ensuring the Cricket World Cup is a safe, enjoyable experience.” India played their only warm-up game against Bangladesh in New York, and the match was marred by an instance where a fan breached security to run up to India captain Rohit Sharma. The fan was soon overpowered by security officials and taken away. India will play their opening match against Ireland on June 5 in New York, followed by the games against Pakistan and USA at the same venue, with the concluding group fixture against Canada in Florida. USA and the Caribbean islands (West Indies) are co-hosting the June 2 to 29 tournament.

Not Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma; Suresh Raina picks player with 21 T20I caps to be India’s X factor in T20 WC – India TV

Image Source : PTI Indian cricket team. India’s charge in the T20 World Cup is set to begin on June 5 with their opening clash against Ireland in New York. The team that lifted the trophy in the inaugural edition of the tournament in 2007, is in the hunt for another title in the West Indies and the USA. The Indian team will bank on bigwigs like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah to come well but former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina has picked a player with 21 T20I caps to be the team’s X-factor for the tournament.  While speaking at the launch of the World Championship of Leagues, the left-handed star said that Shivam Dube can be the X-factor India need in the World Cup. “He has to play in the World Cup. See, the ability to stand still while hitting those big sixes is very rare. Shivam Dube can be the x-factor for India to win the World Cup. So Rohit will have to take the call whether he wants to play Virat (Kohli) up the top, but then Yashasvi is also batting with a different kind of flair. If the situation arises, Shivam can also bowl for the side,” Rainsa said at the launch ceremony.  Dube has the special ability to hit sixes while not moving his feet much and staying still. He was in sublime form during the most of IPL 2024, hitting 396 runs at an average of 36 and a strike rate of 162.30.  Along with spin, the left-handed batter showed his improved game against pacers too in IPL 2024. Out of his 396 runs, 309 have come against pacers in 12 innings at a strike rate of 164.36. Notably, Dube had two consecutive golden ducks in the latter half of the tournament. In the last three IPL outings, he managed 21, 18 and 7 to his name. The 30-year-old bowled in only one game and picked up a wicket in that match against Punjab Kings. Dube will need to bounce back from the under par latter part of the tournament for the 20-over World Cup.

“Things Change During World Cup”: Ex-India Star Aheaad Of Pakistan Clash

Former India pacer RP Singh believes there will be a lot of pressure on the players during the high-voltage clash between India and Pakistan in the upcoming T20 World Cup. The marquee event is set to kick off on June 1 in the USA and the West Indies. One of the greatest rivalries in the history of cricket, India and Pakistan, will write a new chapter in their story on June 9 at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, New York. While India’s World Cup-bound players were engaged in the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season to prepare for the tournament, Pakistan played the T20I bilateral series against New Zealand, Ireland, and England. They drew the five-match T20I series against New Zealand (2-2), won the three-match series against Ireland (2-1), and lost the four-match series against England by 2-0. Despite Pakistan’s dwindling form, RP Singh believes that things change during the World Cup and the level of pressure will be different on the players. “Pakistan is also a good team. They played against Ireland and suffered a defeat. Things change during the World Cup. The match is always high-voltage so there is a lot of pressure on the players. Indians’ performance in the World Cup has always been good. We just lost one match last time, and were dominant throughout,” RP Singh told the media during the jersey launch of the World Championship of Legends team India Champions. The level of pressure on the players and the emotional connection of the fans were visible during their last encounter in the World Cup. In 2022, the Men in Green were far ahead in the game against India. The Men in Blue needed 28 runs off a mere 8 deliveries to walk away with a victory. With Virat Kohli on strike against Haris Rauf, the stalwart batter took a step back and struck a towering six right over the head of the Pakistan speedster. In an emotion-packed game, commentator Gerard Whateley delivered the iconic “That is a shot of an emperor” line to describe Kohli’s masterclass. He tonked another maximum on the next ball, which laid the foundation for a successful 160-run chase for India. The match lived up to its hype, and the fans will be expecting another cracker of a match. Before the epic clash between the two cricketing giants, India will take on Ireland in their tournament opener on June 5. Pakistan will meet the USA in their opening clash on June 6. The fans will be expecting a similarly intense clash between the two Asian Giants that keeps them on the edge of their seats. India T20 WC Squad: Rohit Sharma (c), Hardik Pandya, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant, Sanju Samson, Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Arshdeep Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj. Pakistan T20 WC Squad: Babar Azam (c), Abrar Ahmed, Azam Khan, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, Iftikhar Ahmed, Imad Wasim, Mohammad Abbas Afridi, Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Rizwan, Naseem Shah, Saim Ayub, Shadab Khan, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Usman Khan.
