Mayank Yadav won’t take any further part in IPL: Justin Langer | Cricket News

NEW DELHI: Lucknow Super Giants head coach Justin Langer confirmed on Saturday that pace sensation Mayank Yadav will miss the rest of the Indian Premier League due to a lower abdominal tear. The news of the 21-year-old Delhi man being ruled out of this IPL due to a grade 1 side strain was earlier reported on May 1, coinciding with his inclusion in the BCCI‘s pace bowling contract list.Asked about Mayank’s fitness status, Langer said, “No, we’ll be praying that he can play, hopefully, in the play-offs, but I am a realist as well. It’ll probably be difficult for him to get up for the back-end of the tournament.”Mayank, known for his thunderbolt deliveries clocking at 155 km/h, featured in four IPL matches, claiming seven wickets. However, in two of those games, he was unable to finish his allotted overs due to injury.During the first instance against Gujarat Titans, Mayank suffered a side strain after bowling just one over and had to leave the field.Following a four-week rehabilitation period, Mayank returned to play against Mumbai Indians. However, he suffered another breakdown after bowling 3.1 overs, resulting in strong criticism from Brett Lee, a former teammate of Langer.Langer informed the media that Mayank sustained a tear at the same area where he was injured earlier.“He’s (Mayank) had a scan. He’s got a small tear in a similar area to where his last one (injury) was. So, it’s very unfortunate. We saw the impact he had when he came back into the game,” the former Australia opener and head coach said.Langer said even the great Jasprit Bumrah has spoken about how fast bowlers will have to cope with injuries.“There will always be a lot of discussion about fast bowlers, and I know he spoke to [Jasprit] Bumrah after the game and he reassured him that if he’s going to be a fast bowler, a part of his journey as a young fast bowler, he’s going to get injuries.“So, in my experience, every young fast bowler, probably until they get to 25 or 26, is going to experience different injuries. It’s the most unfortunate. He’s got huge potential,” he said. While Lee had questioned LSG’s handling of Mayank’s injury, the head coach sounded different.“His rehabilitation was excellent. He went into the game [against MI], had a couple of bowls before the game.“He was completely pain free. So, it’s very sad for him and it’s disappointing for LSG as well that he might not play (the rest of the tournament).”(With PTI inputs)

IPL-17: LSG vs KKR | Playoffs hopeful Lucknow Super Giants wary of dominant Kolkata Knight Riders’ all-round firepower

IPL-17: LSG vs KKR | Playoffs hopeful Lucknow Super Giants wary of dominant Kolkata Knight Riders’ all-round firepower

Lucknow Super Giants will have to bring their β€˜A’ game forward to prevail against a dominant Kolkata Knight Riders when the two teams, marching towards IPL playoffs, clash in Lucknow on May 5. With an all-round win by 24 runs over Mumbai Indians propelling the second-placed KKR to 14 points β€” one more step closer to qualification β€” the pressure will be on KL Rahul’s LSG to find a way past the threat that Shreyas Iyer’s side poses. Lucknow Super Giants are placed just one rung below KKR at number three with 12 points from 10 matches with six wins and four defeats. With a rampant Sunrisers Hyderabad (12 points) hot on heir heels at fourth, followed by the dangerous Chennai Super Kings (10 points) and Delhi Capitals (10 points) on the points table, LSG will be under pressure to avoid getting into a mid-table battle as the race for the final-four has intensified. LSG were far from convincing in their previous assignment at Ekana Stadium here as they were made to work hard in a modest 145-run chase by Mumbai Indians, winning by just four wickets in the last over. Skipper Rahul and all-rounder Marcus Stoinis have been the key players for LSG and it remains to be seen if South Africa veteran Quinton de Kock is brought back in place of young Arshin Kulkarni, who opened the innings in the last game. Even though he has gone without a fifty since the first game, Nicholas Pooran has consistently notched up crucial scores but LSG’s overall finishing skills is under question following their struggles against Mumbai Indians. LSG seemed to have made heavy weather towards the end giving MI a real sniff by losing wickets in a flurry and completing their modest chase with some stutter. Ayush Badoni has had a subdued run in this IPL and the uncapped Indian player would be keen to shrug off the rustiness. LSG’s bowlers will also face a stern test with none of them making a real dent with individual brilliance in this IPL. LSG are also likely to be without express pacer Mayank Yadav. Having lost only three of their 11 matches so far, it has taken something out of the ordinary to stop KKR in their tracks. CSK used a spin-friendly surface to eke out a win in Chepauk, while RR’s all-round class helped them pip KKR in a high-scoring thriller. If anything, KKR’s bowling woes were exposed when Punjab Kings recorded IPL’s highest chase ever against them, but Iyer’s side has emerged strongly from that setback with two impressive wins. However, having trumped MI on a sluggish wicket which exposed their batting frailties, KKR will aim for a much improved performance with the bat. For the second time in this IPL, KKR batters struggled when the ball did not come on to the bat and they were forced to change gears in order to build a strong target. KKR slipped to 57 for five at one stage and ran the risk of being shot out for a paltry total, but Venkatesh Iyer (70) and Manish Pandey (42) came to the rescue with a fine 83-run stand. Iyer and Pandey were forced to soak pressure, curb their attacking game and look to farm the strike to build a recovery path for their side before the bowlers carried out a perfect job to secure a 24-run win. Teams (from): Lucknow Super Giants: Quinton de Kock, KL Rahul (c & wk), Deepak Hooda, Ayush Badoni, Marcus Stoinis, Nicholas Pooran (wk), Krunal Pandya, Ravi Bishnoi, Mohsin Khan, Shamar Joseph, Yash Thakur, Manimaran Siddharth, Prerak Mankad, Arshad Khan, Krishnappa Gowtham, Amit Mishra, Kyle Mayers, Ashton Turner, Matt Henry, Naveen-ul-Haq, Devdutt Padikkal, Yudhvir Singh Charak, Mayank Yadav, Arshin Kulkarni. Kolkata Knight Riders: Shreyas Iyer (c), KS Bharat (wk), Rahmanullah Gurbaz (wk), Rinku Singh, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Sherfane Rutherford, Manish Pandey, Andre Russell, Nitish Rana, Venkatesh Iyer, Anukul Roy, Ramandeep Singh, Varun Chakravarthy, Sunil Narine, Vaibhav Arora, Chetan Sakariya, Harshit Rana, Suyash Sharma, Mitchell Starc, Dushmantha Chameera, Sakib Hussain, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Gus Atkinson, Allah Ghazanfar, Phil Salt. Match starts 7:30pm IST.

MI Pacer Jasprit Bumrah Wins Hearts With His Adorable Gesture For A Young Fan. Watch

Mumbai Indians (MI) and India pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah gave a young fan a memory worth cherishing for a lifetime at the Ekana Stadium during the clash against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the official handle of MI posted a video of Bumrah giving out his prestigious Purple Cap, an honour given to the leading wicket-taker in the Indian Premier League (IPL) to a young fan. Not just that, Bumrah also gave him his autograph. That kid now has a core memory for life ????????#MumbaiMeriJaan #MumbaiIndians #LSGvMI | @Jaspritbumrah93 pic.twitter.com/CcS1tdjYzB β€” Mumbai Indians (@mipaltan) May 1, 2024 The fan was clearly ecstatic beyond words to have received Bumrah’s prized possession and an autograph from one of the best in the world, as he was seen running around in the stands with expressions of joy on his face. Indeed, the fan got a “core memory” that he would remember forever. “That kid now has a core memory for life #MumbaiMeriJaan #MumbaiIndians #LSGvMI | @Jaspritbumrah93,” tweeted MI. Bumrah is the leading wicket-taker this season so far, with 14 scalps in 10 games at an average of 18.28 and an economy rate of 6.40. His best figures are 5/21. However, his rich bowling form has not helped his team, as they are sitting at the ninth spot in the points table with three wins and seven losses. Coming to the match, LSG won the toss and opted to field first. Mumbai Indians could not get going from the start, losing four wickets for 27 runs within the powerplay itself. Nehal Wadhera (46 in 41 balls, with four boundaries and two sixes), Ishan Kishan (32 in 36 balls, with three fours) and Tim David (35* in 18 balls, with three fours and a six) tried their best, but could take their side to just 144/7 in their 20 overs. Mohsin Khan (2/36) was the pick of the bowlers for Australia, while Marcus Stoinis, Mayank Yadav, Naveen ul Haq and Stoinis got a wicket each. In the run-chase of 145 runs, LSG also faced a hard challenge from MI bowlers and lost wickets at regular intervals. Stoinis’ knock of 62 in 45 balls, with seven fours and two sixes proved to be just enough to take LSG to a four-wicket win with four balls and four wickets left. Stoinis took home the ‘Player of the Match’ award. LSG is at the third spot with six wins and four losses, giving them 12 points. End Of IPL Campaign For India’s 156.7 Kmph Pace Star Mayank Yadav? Report Claims…

File photo of Mayank YadavΒ© AFP Pace sensation Mayank Yadav’s participation in the remainder of the IPL round-robin stage seems doubtful after he sustained a suspected abdominal muscle “tear” during the game against Mumbai Indians, making it his second injury breakdown in past four weeks. However, there is a silver lining for the 21-year-old Delhi man as he is all set to be given a pace bowling contract by the BCCI alongside Umran Malik, Vidwath Kaverappa, Vyshak Vijaykumar, Yash Dayal and Akash Deep. The contract will place Mayank under the supervision of NCA’s Sports Science and Medical team, who will take charge of his injury management and fitness programme from his IPL franchise Lucknow Super Giants. “Mayank has a tear but it is more likely a grade 1 tear. It will be cutting it fine but in case LSG qualifies for the play-offs, he might just be able to play the knock-out games. But it is like hoping against hope and right now he is doubtful for the remaining IPL games,” a BCCI source informed PTI on condition of anonymity. Mayank, who burst into the scene with 155 click deliveries and back-to-back ‘Player of the Match’ awards at the start of the IPL, broke down in the third match and was ruled out for four weeks. He made a comeback against Mumbai Indians on Tuesday after passing fitness tests but was forced back into the dugout after bowling 3.1 overs in which he gave away 31 runs. Had Mayank been fit all this while, there was a possibility of him being a left-field selection in the T20 World Cup but right now, handling him with care is the primary job of the Indian cricket establishment. “He will soon be handed a pace bowling contract and once he is in BCCI Pathways structure, his growth will be systematically monitored. “The national selection committee and the Indian team management would like to gradually blood him and ensure that he can maintain peak fitness,” the BCCI source added. Hardik Pandya blames top-order collapse for defeat against Lucknow Super Giants | Cricket News

NEW DELHI: As Mumbai Indians succumbed to their seventh defeat of the season, this time against Lucknow Super Giants, skipper Hardik Pandya said loss of early wickets led to their down fall at the Ekana. After being put in to bat by KL Rahul, MI found themselves tottering at 28 for four after powerplay with pacers Mohsin Khan, Marcus Stoinis and Naveen-ul-Haq doing the early damage. Rohit Sharma (4), Suryakumar Yadav (10), Tilak Varma (7) and Hardik (0) all fell cheaply as Ishan Kishan (32) and Nehal Wadhera (46) and Tim David (35) somehow took them to a par total.Hardik said loss of wickets in a cluster in powerplay hurt them badly and they were never able to fully recover from that. “Definitely, losing early wickets in the powerplay is tough to recover from. Where we needed the most, we could not do well,” Hardik said in the post-match presentation. On being asked if high scores this season have put more pressure on the batters early, Hardik said, “Not really, you still have to see the ball and hit. The wicket was good. The ball was there to be hit and we just missed, that sort of season for us so far. I have always believed that whenever you take to the field, sometimes you will be down, sometimes you will be up, and you have to fight. It looks difficult but there are a lot of things you can learn from this game.”Amid MI’s freefall against LSG, Wadhera stood out, notching up a solid 41-ball 46 and Hardik was quick in praising the responsible effort from the youngster. “He has been fantastic, the way he batted against Rajasthan and tonight. He did fantastic last year as well. It was because of the team combination that he could not play early. Looking at his talent, he will play for a lot of years for Mumbai and for India eventually,” Hardik added. With 7 losses in 10 matches, MI are at the ninth spot. A victory on the other hand, lifted Lucknow to third spot.

He has scored two out of his three fifties at this venue. He is a top choice for LSG top batter. The conditions will help the spinners and Krunal Pandya can create big impact with his left arm spin. We are backing him as top wicket-taker for LSG.Suryakumar Yadav has looked the most assured batter for MI. He has scored a couple of fiery fifties for the team. Surya is one of the best players in this format of the game and in a must win game, MI need him to fire. Back him as top MI batter. Jasprit Bumrah, with 14 wickets, is the leading wicket-taker of the tournament and should be backed as MI top bowler.Rohit Sharma has not scored many runs but he has been aggressive at the top. Rohit will continue to score quick runs till the time he is at the crease. He should have a strike rate of over 140 in the inning. Lucknow Super Giants vs Mumbai Indians T20 Match Prediction & Betting Tips, IPL 2024 Lucknow Super Giants will take on Mumbai Indians in the 448h match of the IPL 2024. The game will be played at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow and will start at 7:30 PM IST on April 30. Lucknow Super Giants suffered a defeat against Rajasthan Royals in the last game. Having posted 196-5, the team failed to defend the target. LSG are fifth on the points table, with five wins and four defeats. They need to win three games out of their remaining five matches to qualify for the playoffs. Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians’ playoff chances hang by a thread. They lost to Delhi Capitals in the last game. MI have been very ordinary this season and won just three games out of the nine matches played. However, MI are just not out of the playoff race. If MI can win all their remaining five games, they will qualify for the playoffs, however, it won’t be an easy task given how the team has fared so far. LSG vs MI Match Toss PredictionToss will be crucial as teams want to chase in Lucknow because of the dew factor. RR chased nearly 200 runs in last game thus captain winning the toss should chase. LSG vs MI Pitch ReportThe pitch at the Ekana Stadium is slow, however, it gets better in the second innings as the ball skids from the surface if there is some dew around. Spinners are going to play a big role and wickets with new ball will be key. A score of around 200 should be par. Lucknow Weather ReportThe temperature will range between 40 and 23 degrees. The humidity will be 14 per cent and the wind speed will be 27 km/h. ‘Everyone loves range hitting’: KL Rahul after Lucknow Super Giants’ loss to Rajasthan Royals

NEW DELHI: Captain Sanju Samson led the Rajasthan Royals with an unbeaten 33-ball 71, while Dhruv Jurel contributed 52 not out off 34 balls, as they secured a seven-wicket victory over the Lucknow Super Giants in their IPL 2024 match at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Saturday.Put in to bat first, Lucknow Super Giants posted a respectable 196 for five against the Rajasthan Royals, thanks to skipper KL Rahul‘s 76 off 48 balls and Deepak Hooda’s 50 off 31 balls.Chasing 197, Sanju and Jurel formed an unbroken partnership of 121 runs for the fourth wicket to reach the target in 19 overs. After LSG lost the match, skipper KL Rahul rued the team’s poor start and said that his team fell short of 20 runs. “I think we left about 20 runs behind. We didn’t get an ideal start but with the partnership me and Hooda had was great. In these sorts of games, the set batter had to score close to a hundred after getting to 50-60. I think we were 150 after about 15 overs, should have capitalized on it a bit more. I think it is clear the team with more sixes ends up winning. We do try to hit our sixes but today we had to change our approach after those two early wickets. If Hooda pushed on and scored 20 more, and I got 20 more then we’d finish around 220. That would have been the difference, that’s the 20 runs we left behind,” KL said after the match. LSG, who are fourth in the points tally with 5 wins in 9 matches, will next face Mumbai Indians on Tuesday. “We’re seeing with every game how important it is to give the bowlers that extra cushion because they are under the pump. Everyone loves range hitting and hitting it all over the park, we are no different. It is part of the prep. Our big hitters are Stoin and Pooran who can hit those big shots. The other guys like us try to pick our areas and time the shots better,” he said.“(On Mishra and Bishnoi) There is a bit of chat before the game with the numbers and how opposition players match up. Mishra is an experienced player and today was a day we knew he could be useful with how slow he bowls and with the larger boundaries. Once the runs kept flowing, they put pressure on our bowlers. There were 2-3 overs when Krunal bowled really well and squeezed them but then they attacked the fast bowlers. I couldn’t get a good time to get Bishnoi, wanted to keep him for the backend when Rovman and Hetmyer came out to bat because we know he can bowl well to them,” the LSG captain said.

He scored 82 against CSK in last game at the same ground. Back him as LSG top batter. The pitch will help the spinners and Ravi Bishnoi, even though he has been ordinary at times, can play a big role. We are putting our money on Bishnoi as top wicket-taker as batters will be keen to attack him as other bowlers are hard to score off.Yashasvi Jaiswal scored a magnificent century in the last game against MI. Jaiswal is someone who can be backed for consistency now since he has already got a ton to his name. Back him as RR top batter. Yuzvendra Chahal will be the trump card at Ekana pitch thus he is our pick for top bowler for RR.Scoring fours is not easy on a sluggish pitch at the Ekana Stadium and given the big hitters in both teams, we feel a lot of sixes will be hit in the game. Back total sixes in the match to be over 15.5. Lucknow Super Giants vs Rajasthan Royals TV channels: The fans can watch the match live on Hotstar Live Streaming: Live streaming of the match will be available on the FAFA191 Cricket Exchange India and website. Lucknow Super Giants vs Rajasthan Royals T20 Match Prediction & Betting Tips, IPL 2024 Lucknow Super Giants will take on Rajasthan Royals in the 44th match of the IPL 2024. The game will be played at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow and will start at 7:30 PM IST on April 27. Lucknow Super Giants will be over the moon after twin wins over Chennai Super Kings. The team seems to have peaked at the right moment, with KL Rahul, Marcus Stoinis and Nicholas Pooran picking some good form.  They have five wins in eight games and need three wins in their remaining six games to qualify for the playoffs. The wins over CSK have certainly made them a strong contender to qualify for playoffs.  Meanwhile, the game against RR will be a tough one for LSG. RR are flying high after seven wins in eight games. A win over LSG will make them qualify for the playoffs. The conditions in Lucknow have favoured spinners thus RR won’t feel much pressure of an away game. In Chahal and Ashwin, they have two class operators. Also, the form of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson, Riyan Parag make their batting look strong.  Lucknow Super Giants vs Rajasthan Royals Match Toss PredictionToss will be crucial as there could be some dew in the second innings thus chasing will get slightly easier. We expect captains to win the toss and bowl first. Lucknow Super Giants vs Rajasthan Royals Pitch ReportThe pitch at the Ekana Stadium is usually slow and damp. It is not the best to bat, especially against the spinners. However, in the last game against CSK, they left a bit of grass so spinners did not get much help. Maybe, it was because of the opposition they were playing. We feel LSG would once again prepare a slow pitch. A score of 160-170 has been just about par here. Lucknow Weather ReportThe temperature will range between 41 and 25 degrees. The humidity will be 21 per cent and the wind speed will be 21 km/h. Stoinis powers Lucknow to 6-wicket win over Chennai in IPL | Cricket

CHENNAI, India β€” Marcus Stoinis’ century canceled out Ruturaj Gaikwad’s hundred as Lucknow Super Giants beat Chennai Super Kings by six wickets in the Indian Premier League on Tuesday. Stoinis powers Lucknow to 6-wicket win over Chennai in IPL Stoinis scored 124 not out off 63 balls, including 13 fours and six sixes, as Lucknow put dewy conditions to good use to successfully chase down the highest IPL total at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium. HT launches Crick-it, a one stop destination to catch Cricket, anytime, anywhere. Explore now! Rituraj Gaikwad was 108 not out as the hosts finished with 210-4 in 20 overs. Lucknow finished with 213-4 with three balls to spare. Stoinis’ maiden hundred spearheaded the chase for the Super Giants after their openers fell cheaply β€” Quinton de Kock was out bowled for a three-ball duck, while Lokesh Rahul scored 16 runs. Stoinis then countered with 50 off 26 balls, hitting six fours and two sixes. Impact player Devdutt Padikkal was a spectator at the other end, contributing only 13 runs in a 55-run partnership for the third wicket. The latter was out in the 11th over, and Nicholas Pooran walked out to smash 34 off 15 balls. He put on 70 off 34 balls with Stoinis and their partnership changed the game for Lucknow. Pooran fell after the strategic timeout, but Stoinis stayed on to the end to finish the job along with Deepak Hooda . In doing so, Stoinis brought up his maiden IPL century off 56 balls, finishing with the highest individual score in an IPL run-chase. Earlier, Gaikwad had powered his way through a second IPL century off 56 balls. He hit 12 fours and three sixes in his 60-ball knock, anchoring the Chennai innings after Ajinkya Rahane and Daryl Mitchell fell cheaply. Ravindra Jadeja was promoted up again, but he was caught behind for 16 runs. Gaikwad was then aided by in-form Shivam Dube, who scored 66 off 27 balls. Dube hit seven sixes as he put on 104 runs off 47 balls with Gaikwad for the fourth wicket, taking Chennai past the 200-mark. It was in vain though, as the five-time champions lost a second game to Lucknow this season. Chennai is now down to fifth with eight points from eight games. Lucknow jumped over Chennai into fourth, with 10 points from five wins in eight games. cricket: /hub/cricket This article was generated from an automated news agency feed without modifications to text.
