Ramandeep Singh Dismisses Mitchell Starc Injury Concern, Says He’s Available For Selection vs PBKS

File photo of Mitchell Starc.© BCCI Mitchell Starc has no injury concern and is “available” for selection, Kolkata Knight Riders all-rounder Ramandeep Singh said even as the star pacer indulged in just light training sessions ahead of their IPL clash against Punjab Kings. The Australian cricketer, who attracted a record bid, did not have the kind of return to the league after eight years he would have hoped as he has leaked plenty of runs this season and has managed just six wickets. The left-arm quick also reportedly sustained a finger injury on his bowling hand during their match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Starc did not bowl at the nets in their two practice sessions ahead of their match against PBKS, while Sri Lankan pacer Dushmantha Chameera was seen slogging it out, fuelling speculation that the Aussie may be “rested”. But Ramandeep said Starc was available for selection. “Yes, he’s available. It’s got to do with his workload management,” Ramandeep said. “He is a legend. Cricket is a game of time. We can’t judge him from a few matches,” he said. With Starc going through a poor patch, the bowling unit has come under pressure but Ramandeep said, “There has been no discussion on bowling.” “We just discus about execution and plan and how to improve further. We don’t’ judge someone in one or two matches.” With five wins in seven matches, KKR occupy the second spot in the 10-team table and are well placed to finish in top-two. “We are going for one game at a time. We are just focused on Punjab match, not thinking about finishing top two at the moment,” Ramandeep said. He further credited team mentor Gautam Gambhir for their consistent show this season. “Everyone has a lot of clarity. It’s only because of him the team is performing so well. He is backing everyone,” he said. (Except for the headline, this story has not been edited by NDTV staff and is published from a syndicated feed.) Topics mentioned in this article

He has been sent as a hitter and he has done justice to the role. Back him as KKR top batter. Andre Russell bowls at death and has good variations. Teams often take him for granted so try to score off him which is not easy at all. He got three wickets in last game so back him as top KKR bowler.Ashutosh Sharma has scored just over 150 runs for the team but he has scored runs against all odds and when the chips were down. He could be promoted up the order and thus could be backed as PBKS top batter. Kagiso Rabada has taken 10 wickets this season and is PBKS’ best bowler. Back him as top bowler.KKR have been in ruthless form and have hit plenty of sixes this season. From Narine to Russell, players like to deal in sixes. Kolkata Knight Riders vs Punjab Kings T20 Match Prediction & Betting Tips, IPL 2024 Kolkata Knight Riders will host Punjab Kings in match number 42 of the IPL 2024. The game will be played at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata and will start at 7:30 PM IST on April 26. KKR have been a real force in IPL 2024. The team has played seven games, winning five and losing just two. They are comfortably placed at second position in the points table. KKR just need three wins in the remaining seven games to qualify for the playoffs. The real positive for KKR this season has been their positive attitude and intent. The team has been ruthless and decimated teams with their aggressive stroke play.  Meanwhile, Punjab Kings have been extremely poor. Barring Shashank Singh and Ashutosh Sharma, none of the team’s batters have performed, resulting in the shambolic show. PBKS need to win all their remaining games to qualify for the playoffs thus chances of them reaching the playoffs are grim. Kolkata Knight Riders vs Punjab Kings Match Toss PredictionToss at the Eden Gardens is crucial as teams often tend to chase at this venue as it is a small ground and defending is not easy. Kolkata Knight Riders vs Punjab Kings Pitch ReportThe wicket at the Eden Gardens is tailor-made for batters. Over 420 runs were scored in the last game here. It is very difficult to stop runs here thus we could be in for a high scoring game. 200 should be a par score here. Kolkata Weather ReportThe temperature will be high at around 30 degrees. Varun Chakravarthy has taken three wickets from his last two appearances at Eden Gardens and he is a strong choice for KKR’s top wicket taker in this game.Virat Kohli is the leading run scorer in the tournament and is averaging 72.20 from seven innings. He is well worth backing as RCB’s highest run scorer against KKR. Lockie Ferguson came into the team for the last fixture and took two wickets. He is our pick for RCB’s top wicket taker in this match. No batter has been as consistent as Virat Kohli so far in the 2024 IPL so we recommend backing him to hit the most fours in this clash. Kolkata Knight Riders vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru T20 Match Prediction & Betting Tips, IPL 2024 Match 36 of the 2024 Indian Premier League sees Kolkata Knight Riders go head to head with Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Sunday afternoon at Eden Gardens. KKR have won four of their six fixtures so far and are in second place with RCB down at the bottom of the table. Read on as we preview this match. The game begins at 15:30 local time in Kolkata on April 21st. Although KKR have suffered recent defeats, they have been against the early pace setters Rajasthan Royals and last year’s Champions Chennai Super Kings. They have had an impressive start to the tournament and we expect them to be able to win this clash against the bottom of the table side. RCB have no teams below them in the league at the moment and confidence is particularly low in their bowling unit as seen by all of their bowlers recording economy rates of 10.66 – 18.00 in their last match. In spite of their strong batters, we are not anticipating an RCB win in Kolkata. Kolkata Knight Riders vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru Match Toss PredictionAlmost 60% of the IPL matches at Eden Gardens have been won by the team chasing so we are predicting that both sides will want to field first in this clash. Kolkata Knight Riders vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru Pitch ReportThis certainly looks like being another good batting wicket in this year’s IPL and the surface at Eden Gardens delivered 447 runs in the last game! The pace bowlers are likely to be expensive unless they can produce some high level variations. Batters will find the bounce to be true and whoever bats first will be looking to post a total of at least 215 to be competitive. Kolkata Weather ReportThis is going to be played under very hot conditions on Sunday afternoon with the temperature likely to be in the high thirties throughout. There will be a light breeze and no rain is forecast. IPL 2024 Points Table, Orange Cap, Purple Cap: Delhi Capitals Gain Big With Win Over Gujarat Titans

IPL 2024 Points Table, Orange Cap, Purple Cap: Delhi Capitals Gain Big With Win Over Gujarat Titans

Sharp glovework by skipper Rishabh Pant and some inspired bowling set up a crushing six-wicket win for Delhi Capitals after Gujarat Titans fell to their IPL lowest of 89 on Wednesday. Medium-pace bowler Mukesh Kumar stood out with figures of 3-14 to help bundle out Gujarat in 17.3 overs and Delhi raced to their target in 8.5 overs in Ahmedabad. Delhi, who were without injured David Warner, registered just their third win of this season to jump three places to sixth in the 10-team table. Meanwhile, GT, Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians lost a place each to slip to the seventh, eighth and ninth spots, respectively. Rest of the points table remained unchanged with Rajasthan Royals holding the top spot. Here is the updated IPL 2024 points table: Virat Kohli led the run-scorers’ chart with 361 runs from 7 matches, while Yuzvendra Chahal was on top of wicket-takers’ list with 12 scalps from 7 games. Talking about the Gt vs DC game, Pant, who returned to this year’s IPL after surviving a horror car crash, stood unbeaten on 16 after Australian batter Jake Fraser-McGurk made a brisk 20. The 26-year-old Pant, a left-hand batsman, has scored 210 runs, including two half-centuries, in a boost to his chances of a return to the T20 World Cup in June. India fast bowler Ishant Sharma dismissed captain Shubman Gill for eight in the second over of the match and Gujarat kept losing wickets to some disciplined bowling. The fielding remained impressive after Sumit Kumar sent back Sai Sudarshan for 12 with a direct throw at the non-striker’s end. Pant was nimble behind the stumps and started with a diving catch to dismiss David Miller off Ishant. The wicketkeeper affected two stumpings when his quick work sent back Abhinav Manohar, for eight, and Shahrukh Khan, for a duck in th espace of three balls off South African spinner Tristan Stubbs. Gujarat slipped to 66-7, but Rashid Khan resisted from one end with his gritty 31 off 24 balls before he fell caught behind with Pant taking a regulation catch behind the stumps. Gujarat’s total is the lowest this season in a contrast to some big scores including two record highs of 277 and then 287 by Sunrisers Hyderabad. (With AFP Inputs) Topics mentioned in this article

“Not A Great Day For Shah Rukh Khan”: Last Over Drama Makes Actor Tense In KKR vs RR IPL 2024 Game

Shah Rukh Khan during the last over of KKR vs RR IPL 2024 game© Twitter It was the day of another last-over drama at the IPL 2024. Kolkata Knight Riders looked like pocketing the match against Rajasthan Royals at the Eden Gardens but Jos Buttler had some other idea. The RR star batter scored 107* as RR chased down a target of 224 – the highest ever in IPL history – on the last ball of the 20th over. With the win, RR consolidated their top spot with 12 points from seven matches while KKR are second with eight points from six matches. The match also saw KKR owner Shah Rukh Khan many different emotions. When Sunil Narine scored century, SRK’s joys knew no bounds. But then, as the last-over drama ensued with RR needing nine off six balls, a tense image of Shah Rukh was displayed on the screen. The internet reacted to the photo. Asked to bat first, Sunil Narine’s 109 off 56 balls powered hosts KKR to a formidable 223/6 in front of a packed Eden Gardens. But Buttler had other ideas as he dragged the Royals, dead an buried at 121/6 in the 13th over, past the target of 224 in the last ball of the game after the visitors needed 46 runs in the last three overs, and 28 in 12 balls. Sharma ton goes in vain as Chennai beats Mumbai in IPL. Salt leads Kolkata to win over Lucknow | Cricket

MUMBAI — Rohit Sharma’s eighth Twenty20 century overall went in vain as Chennai Super Kings beat Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League on Sunday. Sharma scored 105 not out off 63 balls but couldn’t help his side reach the 207-run target, with Chennai winning by 20 runs. MS Dhoni’s 20 not out off the last four balls of Chennai’s innings was the difference as the visitors scored 206-4 in 20 overs. Mumbai could only reply with 186-6. Earlier, Phil Salt’s 89 not out off 47 balls powered Kolkata Knight Riders to victory over Lucknow Super Giants at Eden Gardens. With their respective wins, both Chennai and Kolkata are now equal on eight points. Kolkata has four wins from five games and is second in the points’ table with a superior net run-rate. Chennai has four wins from six games and is third. Put into bat, Chennai lost opener Ajinkya Rahane early for five runs. Skipper Rituraj Gaikwad and Sachin Ravindra added 52 off 37 balls for the second wicket. Gaikwad scored a second successive half-century, finishing with 69 off 40 balls, including five sixes and five fours. While he anchored the innings, Shivam Dube lit up the Wankhede with an attacking 66 not out off 38 balls. They added 90 runs off only 45 balls for the third wicket with Mumbai skipper Hardik Pandya dismissing Gaikwad in the 16th over. Dube hit 10 fours and two sixes to propel Chennai’s score, but seemed to be losing steam at the death. Jasprit Bumrah finished wicketless but gave away only 27 runs in four overs. Dhoni then walked out to bat in the final over, perhaps for the last time at this ground, and smacked three consecutive sixes off Pandya. His finish helped Chennai cross 200 and set up the game. Mumbai got off to a speedy start with Sharma and Ishan Kishan putting on 70 runs in just 7.1 overs. Sri Lankan pacer Matheesha Pathirana then pegged them back with a double breakthrough in the 8th over — first Kishan was caught at midwicket and then Suryakumar Yadav was caught at third man for a two-ball duck. Sharma and Tilak Varma rebuilt the innings with 60 off 38 balls for the third wicket. Mumbai was back in the chase, when Pathirana struck again to send back Varma. Chennai then put on the brakes with some clever bowling and field placing. Sharma, who had reached 50 off 33 balls, was starved of the strike and only faced another 30 balls despite being unbeaten at the end. He did manage to double his score, reaching 100 off 61 balls, but Mumbai kept losing wickets at the other end. Sharma hit 11 fours and five sixes, but his efforts went in vain. Pathirana finished with 4-28 from four overs. It was Mumbai’s fourth loss in six games this season. SALT TOO STRONG In Kolkata, Phil Salt smashed 14 fours and three sixes in his whirlwind knock as Kolkata won with 4.2 overs to spare. It finished on 162-2 in 15.4 overs, replying to Lucknow’s 161-7. It was a second consecutive loss for the Super Giants who are now fifth with six points from as many games. Salt’s second half-century of the season powered Kolkata’s chase from the very start, despite losing in-form Sunil Narine cheaply. Left-arm pacer Mohsin Khan did the early damage for Lucknow, dismissing Narine as well as 18-year-old batter Angkrish Raghuvanshi . The double breakthrough didn’t impede Salt who helped Kolkata to a powerful start of 42-2 in 3.1 overs. Salt and skipper Shreyas Iyer then put on 120 runs for the unbroken third wicket off only 76 balls. Salt reached 50 off 26, including eight fours and two sixes, and then accelerated even more. One of the sixes was spilt over the boundary at deep square leg in the seventh over, giving the batter a second chance as well as bonus runs. He took another 39 runs off the next 21 balls, with six fours and a six, en route to his highest IPL score. Salt’s previous best was 87 for Delhi Capitals last season. The keeper-batter had come into the Kolkata squad to replace compatriot Jason Roy, who had pulled out of the tournament for personal reasons. Iyer finished on 38 not out, with six fours, letting his partner do most of the heavy work. Lucknow had been restricted to yet another sub-par score on an even batting surface at the Eden Gardens. Nicholas Pooran top scored with 45 off 32, including four sixes, after Lucknow was down to 111-5 in 14.4 overs at one stage. Pooran helped his side squeeze 50 runs off the last 27 balls, and he had some help from Ayush Badoni who scored 29. Left-arm pacer Mitchell Starc, the most expensive player in the IPL, finally found some bowling rhythm and finished with 3-28 in four overs. Skipper Lokesh Rahul scored 39 off 27 balls, with three fours and two sixes, but couldn’t help relaunch Lucknow’s innings. MITCH MARSH INJURY The Delhi Capitals have confirmed that all rounder Mitch Marsh flew home to Australia after picking up a minor hamstring injury. Marsh is expected to rejoin the Capitals later in the tournament and the 32-year-old is not considered to be a doubt for the Twenty20 World Cup in the Caribbean and US starting in early June. cricket: /hub/cricket This article was generated from an automated news agency feed without modifications to text.

Lucknow Super Giants create an unwanted first in eight-wicket mauling by Kolkata Knight Riders | Cricket News

NEW DELHI: Opening batter Phil Salt smashed a fiery unbeaten 47-ball 89 after pacer Mitchell Starc‘s superb spell as Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday began their five-match home stretch with a lop-sided eight-wicket win over Lucknow Super Giants at the Eden Gardens. After an all-round bowling display restricted Lucknow to a below-par 161 for 7, the Kolkata batters made light work of the chase, accomplishing the target with 26 balls to spare. The defeat for KL Rahul’s Lucknow turned out to be the first-ever against Kolkata in the IPL.Prior to the heavy defeat on Sunday, Lucknow had met Kolkata thrice in the IPL and had a 100 percent record against the Men in Purple. On all the other three past occasions, Lucknow won the game batting first. As KKR registered their first-ever win over LSG in four matches, they also became the second team after Delhi Capitals this season to chase down a 160-plus total against LSG.Prior to the defeats against DC and KKR, LSG had won each of the 13 IPL matches while defending a 160-plus total. After the defeat, skipper KL Rahul admitted that the defeat was a proper hammering and will be tough to digest for the team. “One of those days, it was a proper hammering. Games like these are tough to digest and we have seen in IPL and every team goes through that. We will try and work out what went wrong and come back better. Not panicking (about back-to-back losses), need to figure out where we went wrong and the last couple of games we haven’t been able to get past 160 and that’s something we want to see and be better at it,” Rahul said after the defeat. With three defeats and an equal number of wins in six games, Lucknow currently sit at the sixth spot on the points table.KKR, on the other hand have 4 wins in 5 matches and are at second spot.

Coming to the game, PBKS was put to bat first. None of the batters could score big as knocks from Ashutosh Sharma and Jitesh Sharma helped PBKS reach 147/8 in their 20 overs.
