Virat Kohli dismissed for first-ever golden duck at T20 World Cup vs USA, Rohit Sharma’s stunned reaction sums it up

Team India’s star batter Virat Kohli continued to endure poor run-scoring form at the ongoing T20 World Cup, as he was dismissed on a golden duck in the match against the USA on Wednesday. Saurabh Netravalkar, the former Indian cricketer who now plays for the United States, removed Kohli as he beat his outside edge for an easy caught-behind dismissal. Now catch your favourite game on Crickit. Anytime Anywhere. Find out how Netravalkar, the left-arm pacer, gave Kohli enough width for the batter to stretch his arms and go for a drive through covers. However, he couldn’t middle the delivery as the ball picked a thick outside edge, carrying towards wicketkeeper Andries Gous for a simple catch. Rohit Sharma, the Indian captain who was standing at the other end, looked visibly disappointed after the dismissal. Watch: A couple of overs later, Rohit Sharma, too, fell prey to the same bowler, as a thick outside edge shot off high in the air before being caught inside the circle by Harmeet Singh. The Indian skipper was dismissed for 3. Arshdeep shines Left-arm seamer Arshdeep Singh delivered a career-best performance with figures of 4-9, including two wickets in the first over, as India held the USA to 110-8 in their T20 World Cup clash. Arshdeep also went past Ravichandran Ashwin to register the best figures by an Indian in the tournament’s history; Ashwin held the previous record with 4/11 figures against Australia in the 2014 edition. Despite the modest total, India remain cautious about chasing on the notoriously tricky and slow pitch at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, where they recently scored just 119 in a narrow six-run victory over Pakistan.  A win in this match would secure India’s place in the second round Super Eights. Arshdeep’s early breakthroughs saw him dismiss recalled opener Shayan Jahangir lbw on the first ball and have Andries Gous caught in the deep five balls later, leaving the hosts at a precarious 3-2 after the opening over.

Wasim Akram sends ‘strict answer’ to ‘foreign ex-cricketers’ after Pietersen’s ‘Virat Kohli should leave RCB’ statement

Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s wait for an IPL title continues after the side was eliminated earlier this week during its Eliminator match against Rajasthan Royals. The RCB had a stellar run in the second half of the season after winning only one of their first 8 matches; they registered six successive wins to qualify for the Playoffs, capping off a brilliant comeback with a dramatic win against Chennai Super Kings in their final league phase game. Virat Kohli plays a shot during the Indian Premier League (IPL) Twenty20 eliminator cricket match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Rajasthan Royals(AFP) Virat Kohli, RCB’ star batter, was yet again the side’s most consistent performer and has all but ensured an Orange Cap to his name; he scored 741 runs in 15 matches this season; no other batter has crossed the 600-run mark yet, with only one match remaining in the season. ‘ Unlock exclusive access to the latest news on India’s general elections, only on the HT App. Download Now! Download Now! Former England batter Kevin Pietersen had suggested after RCB’s loss that Kohli should consider changing his franchise to assure a chance of lifting the IPL title. “I have said it before and I will say it again — the greats of the game in other sports, have left teams to go and seek glory somewhere else. When he has tried and tried so hard — won the Orange Cap yet again and done so much yet again and the franchise fails again. I understand for the brand of the team and the commercial value he brings to the team… But Virat Kohli deserves a trophy. He deserves to play in a team that could help him to get that trophy,” he said, on Star Sports. However, Wasim Akram has now reacted strongly to Pietersen’s remark, stating that the decision to stay or leave should be left to Kohli alone. He insisted that if Kohli doesn’t want to leave, there’s no point having this conversation.  “I’ve a very strict answer. Kevin is a very good friend of mine. All these foreign ex-players, who do the commentary, they tweet about everything related to India. I’m all for it… it’s probably right but it’s not a big deal for me. It’s a big deal for Kohli, maybe. He wants to win for RCB, what would changing the team do for him, then? He wants to win for RCB, that’s his call. That’s my opinion. I don’t want to speak on everything, that’s what I’ve learned,” Akram told Sportskeeda. Kohli, in an earlier interview with RCB, had said that he wanted to retire at the franchise. Auction picks need to be better Akram also commented on RCB’s consistent failures in IPL seasons, attributing their struggles to poor auction strategies. The former Pakistan captain said RCB lagged behind in their bowling attack= and expressed that he’s still surprised at the side’s decision to part ways with Yuzvendra Chahal. “It depends on which players they pick in auction. This season, their bowling wasn’t up to the standard, especially when they play at home. It’s a high-scoring venue. Their batting was fine, but their bowling… you let go of Chahal, I still can’t understand that decision,” Akram said.  “Their coach (Mike Hesson) had said that they thought they would bought him back, but they didn’t have the money left. Make sure you had enough money to buy that player back. It cost them in the middle overs. Hopefully, next year, they will be better prepared with their bowling.”

Virat Kohli’s brilliant gesture for Dinesh Karthik during Orange Cap presentation as RCB WK’s cameo ensures win vs GT

Royal Challengers Bengaluru held nerves as they overcame a mid-innings wobble to secure a crucial four-wicket victory over the Gujarat Titans on Saturday. Led by a scintillating fifty from captain Faf du Plessis, who blazed his way to 64 runs off just 23 deliveries, RCB showcased their batting prowess, particularly during a blistering opening partnership with Virat Kohli. Virat Kohli’s gesture for Dinesh Karthik during the Orange Cap presentation(IPL) The duo’s explosive partnership of 92 runs in just 35 balls set the tone for RCB’s chase, as they aggressively targeted the Gujarat Titans’ bowling attack, plundering boundaries at will during the powerplay. Despite encountering some tense moments, largely of their own making, RCB’s triumph catapulted them to seventh place on the IPL table, keeping their hopes of a playoff berth alive. With eight points from 11 matches, RCB have an outside chance for a spot in the playoffs. The game also saw Virat Kohli regaining his top spot in the Orange Cap list; after being briefly toppled by Chennai Super Kings captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, Kohli climbed back to the summit with his 42-run knock in the run-chase. He now has 542 runs in 11 matches in the season and was presented the Orange Cap by Dinesh Karthik, who also played a crucial role in RCB’s win. As RCB lost six wickets within just 25 runs in the run-chase after racing to 92/0 in 5.5 overs, Karthik (21*) steered the sinking ship alongside Swapnil Singh, as the duo remained unbeaten to see the side off to its fourth win of the season. While receiving his cap, Kohli showed a respectful gesture to Karthik, as he bowed towards him. The RCB wicketkeeper, in turn, hugged Kohli. Watch the heartwarming moment: While Kohli has consistently been among the runs for RCB this year, he has lacked support from fellow batters. Karthik, however, has produced some strong performances in his finishing role, saving the side on a number of occasions this season alone. RCB’s remaining games The RCB will now return to action on May 9 as they take on the Punjab Kings, whom they had defeated earlier in the season. Their last two matches are against the teams firmly in contention for playoff spots, too, with Delhi Capitals visiting Bengaluru for a crucial clash on May 12, followed by a rematch against Chennai Super Kings, whom they had faced in the opening game of the season.

Watch – ‘And then you die and…’: Virat Kohli on sticking to RCB despite multiple offers | Cricket News

NEW DELHI: Virat Kohli and Royal Challengers Bengaluru are synonymous to each other in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Virat has played for RCB since IPL’s inaugural season in 2008 and stuck to it.IPL ORANGE CAP | IPL PURPLE CAP | IPL POINTS TABLEVirat has been the captain of RCB for several seasons, bringing his aggressive and passionate style of leadership to the team. Under his captaincy, RCB has seen both highs and lows, including reaching the IPL finals in 2016.But Kohli has stuck with the team even though RCB still haven’t won the IPL trophy. In a viral video, Kohli explains in a podcast what RCB means to him and why he has not joined any other team. The host asks, “Virat I know you love RCB just as much as RCB loves you. Even for a moment, for a second, while playing this IPL, have you ever wondered is the grass greener on the other side?”Virat answers, “To be very honest I have thought about it, yes I won’t shy away from it and I’ve been approached many times as well to come into the auction somehow, put my name in there and stuff. And then I thought about it I was like at the end of the day everyone has X number of years they live right and then you die and then life moves on. And there would have been many great people who want trophies and this that blah blah blah but no one addresses you in the room like “Oh he’s an IPL champion” or “he’s a World Cup champion”. “And it’s like if you’re a good person, people like you and if you’re a bad guy, they stay away from you and eventually that’s what life is all about so for me the understanding that the loyalty with RCB is like how I follow my life is far greater for me than the fact that yes five people in the room would say, “Oh finally you’ve won the IPL with whoever XYZ and yeah you feel good for five minutes but then the sixth minute you could be miserable with some other issue in life, so it is not the end of the world for me,” Kohli adds.Kohli goes on to say, “What this franchise (RCB) has given me in terms of opportunity in the first three years and believed in me, that is the most special thing because as I said there were many teams who had the opportunity but they didn’t back me, they didn’t believe in me so now when I’m successful and I should fall to the opinion of people saying “but the IPL”. This was the case with me till 2018 England tour happened. For four years of my life I was doing well everywhere in the world, the only thing was but “England”. So there’s always going to be buts, you literally can’t live your life like that and I just carry on my own thing and I actually honestly don’t even bother about a third person beyond myself, Anushka discussing things and just being true to ourselves. And that’s it for me, nothing else and no one else’s opinion matters at all.” Overall, Virat Kohli’s journey with RCB has been marked by exceptional batting displays, leadership challenges, and a strong connection with the team’s fan base, making him a central figure in the franchise’s history.Despite Kohli’s individual brilliance, RCB has often struggled to clinch the IPL title. They have reached the playoffs on multiple occasions but have faced challenges in converting those opportunities into championships.Unlike many other players who have switched teams over the years, Kohli has remained loyal to RCB throughout his IPL career. His commitment to the franchise has made him a beloved figure among RCB fans.Kohli’s personal achievements, including multiple centuries and accolades like the Orange Cap, highlight his impact on the team.
