India beats United States by 7 wickets at the cricket Twenty20 World Cup

WESTBURY, N.Y. — No upset this time for the United States as the home team was easily beaten by cricket heavyweight India at the Twenty20 World Cup on Wednesday. India beats United States by 7 wickets at the cricket Twenty20 World Cup Suryakumar Yadav’s half-century powered India to a seven-wicket win over the U.S., which had shocked Pakistan last week. Now catch your favourite game on Crickit. Anytime Anywhere. Find out how With the win, India reached the “super eight” round. The U.S. needs to beat Ireland on Friday to advance. Yadvav’s 50 runs came off 49 balls included two fours and two sixes. He put on 72 runs off 65 balls for the unbeaten fourth wicket with Shivam Dube, who scored 31 not out as India finished with 111-3 in 18.2 overs in reply to 110-8 by the United States. Left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh took 4-9 in four overs to restrict the co-hosts after India had won the toss and opted to field at the Nassau County International Stadium. After the U.S. scored 110 runs — well short of an average T20 tally — it was India’s turn to bat. India was in early trouble in its chase as Indian-born medium pacer Saurabh Netravalkar continued his golden run for the Americans. After bowling the co-hosts to the upset over Pakistan, he celebrated the wickets of Indian superstars Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Kohli was caught behind for a golden duck — dismissed off the first delivery he faced — in what surely will become a career highlight for Netravalkar. Sharma fell to a slower delivery after just 3 runs, as Netravalkar finished with 2-18 in four overs. Rishabh Pant scored 18 off 20 balls batting at number three, but was bowled off an Ali Khan delivery that slowed low. India was down to 39-3 in 7.3 overs with the U.S. raising visions of an even bigger shock. Yadav and Dube absorbed the pressure, however, and battled hard to dig India out of its hole. They didn’t look to score quickly against the duo’s celebrated natural style of play, instead spending time at the difficult wicket. India crossed 50 only after 11 overs. But the chase was given a boost when five penalty runs were awarded after the 15th over, with the U.S. guilty of running the clock past 60 seconds between overs on three separate occasions. Yadav then took 15 runs off Shadley van Schalkwyk’s 17th over, as India crossed the finish line with relative ease. Earlier, Singh picked two wickets in the very first over as the Americans went down to 3-2. He trapped opener Shayan Jahangir lbw for a golden duck, while Andries Gous was out caught for two. Steven Taylor scored 24 off 30 balls to help recover the innings. Singh returned later on to dismiss top-scorer Nitish Kumar for 27. His knock anchored the innings after the U.S. was down to 56-4 in 11.4 overs. Hardik Pandya also picked 2-14 in his four-over spell, accounting for stand-in skipper Aaron Jones and hard-hitting Corey Anderson . cricket: /hub/cricket This article was generated from an automated news agency feed without modifications to text.

Why Was USA's Five Runs Deducted vs India In Tense T20 World Cup Chase - Here's The Detailed Reason

Why Was USA’s Five Runs Deducted vs India In Tense T20 World Cup Chase – Here’s The Detailed Reason

USA gave India a run for their money in a tense T20 World Cup 2024 match on Wednesday. USA, who had earlier beaten Canada and former champions Pakistan, put pressure on India right from the start. On a tricky pitch in New York, India scored 110/8 in 20 overs. Then, they reduced India to 39/3 with Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant back in the hut. Though India did not lose any more wickets to reach the target in 18.2 overs, unbeaten batters Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dube did not have it easy.  India got an unexpected help as USA were docked five runs and they received penalty. USA stand-in captain Aaron Jones was not happy and had a lengthy chat with the umpires. The hosts were docked five runs due to  a new penalty rule. It was because USA went past 60 seconds to start a new over 3 times in the innings. As per the new rules, that’s a penalty. Talking about the game, Arshdeep Singh and Suryakumar Yadav played lead roles as India defeated USA by seven wickets to enter the Super Eight of the T20 World Cup on Wednesday. Suryakumar made a well-judged unbeaten 50 off 49 balls and Shivam Dube a laboured to a 31 off 35 balls as India overhauled USA’s 110/8 in 18.2 overs. India ended up at 111/3. Earlier, pacer Arshdeep was brilliant with the ball while taking four wickets as India restricted the USA to 110/8. Nitish Kumar (27, 23b, 2×4 1×6) batted well in the company of former New Zealand all-rounder Corey Anderson (15, 12b, 1×4, 1×6) for the USA. For India, Arshdeep (4/9) and Hardik Pandya (2/14) were the best in the park, picking up six wickets between them. Brief scores: USA: 110/8 in 20 overs (Steven Taylor 24, Nitish Kumar 27, Corey Anderson 14; Arshdeep Singh 4/9, Hardik Pandya 2/14) lost to India: 111/3 in 18.2 overs (Suryakumar Yadav 50 not out, Shivam Dube 31 not out; Saurabh Netravalkar 2/18) by 7 wickets  With PTI inputs Topics mentioned in this article

First Time In Indian Cricket History: Arshdeep Singh Achieves Monumental Feats At T20 World Cup 2024

First Time In Indian Cricket History: Arshdeep Singh Achieves Monumental Feats At T20 World Cup 2024

T20 World Cup 2024: Arshdeep Singh picked up a wicket off the very first ball vs USA.© AFP Arshdeep Singh set two records in India’s T20 World Cup 2024 game against USA. The left-arm seamer now has the record of the best bowling figures in a T20 World Cup game by an Indian by finishing with figures of 4-0-9-4. He beat Ravichandran Ashwin’s previous best of 4-11 in 3.2 overs against Australia in the 2014 edition. He thus became the first Indian bowler to take four wickets in a T20 World Cup game by giving less than 10 runs. Arshdeep also became the first Indian bowler to pick up a wicket on the very first ball of a T20 World Cup match, as he dismissed USA batsman Shayan Jahangir. Arshdeep Singh hardly took his foot off the pedal enjoying career-best figures of 4/9 as India restricted co-hosts United States of America to a manageable 110 for 8 in a Group ‘A’ encounter of the T20 World Cup on Wednesday. After a couple of gallant batting performances in their back-to-back victories, the USA batters found Indian pace attack a few notches above in terms of class and quality. There was hardly a phase of play when the hosts would have felt the noose being loosened around their necks. However, after scoring 42 in the first 10, USA with useful contributions from Nitish Kumar (27), Steven Taylor (24) and former New Zealand international Corey Anderson (15) added another 68 in the back-10. Once Arshdeep got a couple of breakthroughs in the opening over including a first-ball wicket of Shayan Jahangir, there was no looking back for the Indians. They never had a slip up in terms of intensity, mixing up fuller deliveries with ones that were pitched on back of length. With PTI inputs Topics mentioned in this article

“All Eyes On Vaishno Devi”: Pakistan Star Pacer Hassan Ali’s Post On Reasi Terrorist Attack Viral

Pakistan star pacer Hassan Ali’s wile Samiya hails from India.© Instagram A deadly terror attack on a bus carrying pilgrims in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district has grabbed the world’s attention. Nine people were killed and 41 injured as the terrorists opened fire at the 53-seater bus, which was on its way from the Shiv Khori temple to the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in Katra, causing it to veer off the road and fall into a deep gorge near the Teryath village of the Poni area of Reasi on Sunday evening. Pakistan cricket team pacer Hassan Ali has reacted on the attack with a post which has gone viral. “All eyes on Vaishno Devi attack,” he posted on Instagram story. Ali’s wife Samiya hails from India.  The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday released a sketch of a terrorist involved in the attack on a passenger bus in Reasi district and announced a ₹ 20 lakh reward for information about him. “Reasi police announce a reward of INR 20 lakh for any fruitful information about the whereabouts of the terrorist involved in the recent attack on the yatri bus in the area of Pouni,” a police spokesman said. The sketch of the terrorist was prepared based on the description given by eyewitnesses, he said and appealed to people provide information. Extensive efforts to track down the terrorists involved in the attack was underway on Tuesday, with 11 teams of security personnel working on the ground and a multi-directional cordon laid around the Ranso-Poni-Treyath belt, officials said. Hassan Ali has played 24 Tests (80), 66 ODIs (100) and 51 T20Is (60) for Pakistan. Ali is not part of the Pakistan cricket team that is playing at the T20 World Cup 2024. Pakistan has so far lost two out of the three games that it has played, including one against India. Topics mentioned in this article

"This Is Not A Test Match": Kapil Dev Schools Rohit Sharma Over Jasprit Bumrah's Role

“This Is Not A Test Match”: Kapil Dev Schools Rohit Sharma Over Jasprit Bumrah’s Role

India legend Kapil Dev has questioned the Indian management on not opening the bowling with spearhead Jasprit Bumrah. Following Sunil Gavaskar’s criticism on the same issue, Kapil Dev has also joined in. In both of India’s games – and Ireland and Pakistan – it has been Arshdeep Singh and Mohammed Siraj who’ve taken the new ball. However, it’s Jasprit Bumrah who has taken the Player of the Match award in both games. After his heroics against Pakistan, shoutsfor Bumrah to open the bowling have increased. “He needs to bowl the first over, he is a wicket-taking bowler,” said Kapil, speaking to ABP News. “If you make him bowl the fifth or sixth bowler, the game can slip out of your hands,” he added. The context to the criticism comes from the fact that India were defending a small total of 119 against Pakistan, and not opening with their deadliest pacer could have left them in a poor position. Bumrah turned the game in India’s favour towards the end, picking up three crucial Pakistan wickets: Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan and Iftikhar Ahmed. He ended with figures of 3/14. “This is not a Test match. This is T20. The quicker you take wickets, the more pressure it puts on the opposition,” said Kapil, India’s leading fast-bowling wicket-taker in Tests. “It is better to have a positive mindset. If Bumrah opens the bowling and picks up a couple of wickets, life becomes easier for the other bowlers as well,” said Kapil. Kapil hailed Bumrah for having exceeded expectations and achieved the status of the best bowler in the world. “We didn’t think he’d be able to play so much cricket, because his action and the way he runs puts pressure on his body and shoulders. But he has proved all of us wrong,” lavished Kapil about Bumrah. India face hosts USA at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday, June 12, with the winner booking a place in the Super 8. Topics mentioned in this article

“Told You Pakistan Will Win”: Yuvraj Singh’s Chat With Shahid Afridi Breaks Internet – Watch

Yuvraj Singh (L) and Shahid Afridi© X (formerly Twitter) Yuvraj Singh and Shahid Afridi, the two ambassadors of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024, revealed their conversation during India’s win over Pakistan on Sunday and the video has gone viral on social media. In the video, the former India all-rounder and the former Pakistan cricket team captain discussed their hilarious conversation and the fans cannot control their excitement at the interaction. Afridi seemed agitated regarding Pakistan’s inability to win the match despite bundling out India for just 119. He even said that Yuvraj predicted a Pakistan win when the Babar Azam-led side was 40 runs away from the victory. Yuvraj responded that although he said that, he was confident about an Indian victory.  Here’s how the conversation between Yuvraj Singh and Shahid Afridi went – Yuvraj: Lala, why are you sad? What happened? Afridi: Isn’t it fair that I am sad? Was this a match we (Pakistan) should have lost? When we needed to score 40 runs to win, Yuvraj told me “Lala, congratulations! I am leaving, won’t watch the rest of the game”. I told him ‘Yuvi, chaalis runs bohut hain iss pitch pe. Itni jaldi mubarakbaad na de mujhe (40 runs are a lot on this pitch, don’t congratulate me so early). Chit Chat of Shahid Afridi with Yuvraj Singh Regarding #PakvsInd Match pic.twitter.com/tMCfZdCt0Z — TEAM AFRIDI (@TEAM_AFRIDI) June 11, 2024 Yuvraj: I told you Pakistan will win, but I was still confident that we (India) can win it from there. Winning and losing is part of the game, what’s important is that our bonhomie should continue. India won both their matches against Ireland and Pakistan to put themselves in a brilliant position to book their T20 World Cup 2024 Super 8 berth. Their final two games are against United States and Canada with one victory needed for the Rohit Sharma-led side to qualify for the next round. Topics mentioned in this article

India's Predicted XI Against USA: Rohit Sharma To Make 2 Changes; Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja Out?

India’s Predicted XI Against USA: Rohit Sharma To Make 2 Changes; Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja Out?

India Predicted Playing 11 vs USA: India will be squaring off against co-hosts and debutants USA for their next T20 World Cup 2024, Group A match on Wednesday in New York. After pulling-off a stunning victory against Pakistan in a low-scoring thriller, Rohit Sharma and co would be eager to add another win to their brilliant World Cup campaign. On the other hand, USA, who are making their first appearance in the T20 World Cup, left everyone utterly impressed with a surprising Super Over win over Pakistan. The Monank Patel-led side, which is filled with some former Indian players, will look to put up a good show against the might India. In the first two games, India’s weakest link was Shivam Dube. The Chennai Super Kings’ most valued ‘Impact Player’ is finding it tough on two-paced tracks where the ball is gripping and coming late onto the bat. But unlike tactician-par-excellence MS Dhoni, who could bench him during CSK’s bowling in the IPL, national skipper Rohit Sharma doesn’t have such luxury and needs to hide him in areas of the field where the ball is expected to travel less. Dube is a monstrous hitter of spinners on good flat decks and his military medium seam-up stuff does give the Indian skipper cushion to manoeuvre with the bowling combination. But in a format like T20, the team management, which asked for Dube at the expense of Rinku Singh, would want him to come good. Else, there is Yashasvi Jaiswal in the 15, who is a way more rounded batter than the big-bodied Mumbaikar. Two wrist spinners, Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav, should be given some game time or else they might just enter the Super Eights a bit undercooked in the Caribbean where the pitches will be more spin-friendly. India’s Predicted XI against USA: Rohit Sharma (c), Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant (wk), Suryakumar Yadav, Sanju Samson, Hardik Pandya, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Arshdeep Singh (With PTI Inputs) Topics mentioned in this article

Harbhajan Singh Doubles Down On "Nalaayak" Kamran Akmal Over Racist 'Sikh Joke'

Harbhajan Singh Doubles Down On “Nalaayak” Kamran Akmal Over Racist ‘Sikh Joke’

Former India spinner Harbhajan Singh gave ex-Pakistan wicket-keeper batter Kamran Akmal another stern reply over the racist joke that the latter had made at Sikhs during the India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup 2024 match. Akmal’s attempt to demean India pacer Arshdeep Singh saw him become a target on social media, with Harbhajan also deciding to teach him a history lesson. Though Kamran later issued an apology, Harbhajan launched another attack at the Pakistani cricketer over his controversial remarks, calling him ‘Nalaayak’. “Kuch bhi ho sakta hai… Dekhein last over karna Arshdeep Singh ne hai. Waise uska rhythm nahi laga. 12 bajj gaye hai (Anything can happen. The last over will be bowled by Arshdeep Singh; he hasn’t looked in a great rhythm. And It is already 12),” Akmal had said while laughing with other panellists on the show during the match. He then issued an apology over the comments, saying: “I deeply regret my recent comments and sincerely apologise to Harbhajan Singh and the Sikh community. My words were inappropriate and disrespectful. I have the utmost respect for Sikhs all over the world and never intended to hurt anyone. I am truly sorry.” In a video shared by ANI, Harbhajan said that only a ‘Nalaayak’ like Kamran can make such a statement.  #WATCH | Brooklyn, New York: On former Pakistan cricketer Kamran Akmal’s comment over the Sikh community, former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh says “This is a very absurd statement and a very childish act that only a ‘Nalaayak’ person can do. Kamran Akmal should understand… pic.twitter.com/SyCKW59fgf — ANI (@ANI) June 12, 2024 “This is a very absurd and childish statement that only a ‘Nalaayak’ can make. Kamran Akmal should understand that there is no need to say anything about anyone’s religion and make fun of it. I would like to ask Kamran Akmal – Do you know the history of Sikhs, who are Sikhs and all the work that Sikhs have done to save your community, your mothers, sisters,” Harbhajan said while speaking to ANI. “Ask this from your ancestors, at 12 o’clock, the Sikhs used to attack Mughals and rescue your mothers and sisters, so stop talking nonsense. It is good that he understood so quickly and apologised but he should never again try to hurt any Sikh or any religion. We respect all religions, whether it is Hinduism, Islam, Sikhism or Christianity…”. Topics mentioned in this article
