He is well worth backing as England’s highest run scorer in this match. Adil Rashid has a very strong record at this venue and he is our pick for England’s top wicket taker against Scotland.Captain Richie Berrington is vastly experienced and he comes into this match with five international centuries. He is our tip for Scotland’s highest run scorer against England. Mark Watt will get turn from this pitch and the left-arm spinner has gone wicketless in only one of his 14 T20 World Cup appearances. There are very few batters in world cricket who are as consistent as Jos Buttler. We recommend backing him to hit the most boundaries in this game. England vs Scotland Match Prediction & Betting Tips, T20 World Cup 2024 England take on Scotland in Match 6 of the 2024 T20 World Cup at 10:30 local time in Bridgetown, Barbados on Tuesday morning. This will be the second game in the group after Namibia and Oman got it underway on Sunday evening here at the Kensington Oval. Read on as we preview this fixture. The Group B match gets underway on 4th June. England begin their T20 World Cup defence with this local derby and although there is always the possibility of a giant-killing, we expect Buttler’s side to have too much quality. They impressed with both bat and ball in the recent series win over Pakistan. Scotland have developed into a consistent international side although they tend to lack a real world class player with the ability to swing a tight game against an established team. We can expect them to play a good standard of cricket in this match but getting the win seems like an unlikely outcome. England vs Scotland Match Toss PredictionTeams batting first have a much stronger record at the Kensington Oval in T20Is. With over 66% of games won by the team putting a target on the board, we expect both skippers to want to bat first. England vs Scotland Pitch ReportThis pitch normally allows for a good contest between bat and ball with a par score around 160. There will be some turn for the spinners and any total approaching 190 in the first innings of the game should be enough to win. England vs Scotland ENG vs SCO Pitch ReportThis pitch normally allows for a good contest between bat and ball with a par score around 160. There will be some turn for the spinners and any total approaching 190 in the first innings of the game should be enough to win. Barbados Weather ReportOnce again, the forecast is for very humid conditions in Bridgetown on Tuesday. There may be some showers which come and go but it will be warm throughout with the temperature in the high 20s. England Star Banned From Cricket For Three Months Over Betting Offences

England Star Banned From Cricket For Three Months Over Betting Offences

England paceman Brydon Carse has been banned from all cricket for three months for betting violations, it was announced Friday. The 28-year-old, who was called into England’s 50-over World Cup squad six months ago, was given a 16-month sanction — 13 months of which have been suspended — following an anti-corruption investigation by the English game’s Cricket Regulator. Carse, who signed an England central contract in October, accepted the charges of placing 303 bets on various cricket matches between 2017 and 2019, though not on games in which he was playing. As a result, the Durham quick still contravened integrity rules meaning no “professional participant” (player, coach or other support staff) is permitted to bet on any cricket anywhere in the world. South Africa-born Carse, a veteran of 17 white-ball internationals for England, will now be suspended immediately from playing in any cricket until August 28. But provided he does not commit any further anti-corruption offences over the next two years, Carse will not face any further sanctions. “Whilst these bets were several years ago, that is no excuse and I take full responsibility for my actions,” Carse said in a statement on Durham’s website. “I would like to thank the ECB (England and Wales Cricket Board), Durham Cricket and the PCA (England’s Professional Cricketers’ Association) for their support during this difficult time for me. “I will be working hard in the next 12 weeks to ensure that I repay that support on the field when I am able to return to playing.” An ECB spokesperson said: “We take these matters extremely seriously and do not condone any form of anti-corruption breach in cricket. “We support the Cricket Regulator’s decision and their consideration of the mitigating factors in Brydon’s case. “He has co-operated and shown remorse for his actions. We are satisfied that Brydon has shown growth in the five years since this breach and has demonstrated a greater understanding of his responsibilities. “We are hopeful that his case can serve as an educational example for other cricketers.” Carse’s most recent appearance for England came during a one-day international against the West Indies in Antigua in December last year. His ban effectively rules him out of a Test debut this season, with the last of England’s six matches in the format in their home summer, against Sri Lanka at The Oval starting on September 6, commencing just over a week after Carson’s suspension ends. This day 40 years ago: Viv Richards single-handedly destroys England with record 189*

This day 40 years ago: Viv Richards single-handedly destroys England with record 189*

Many a great batter has emerged in the years since West Indies legend Viv Richards ended his illustrious international career in 1991. And yet, those who have watched him play live, and even those who have only been able to experience his career through grainy highlight reels and both verbal and written stories, tend not to argue when someone puts Richards above the likes of Sachin Tendulkar and other great batters that have followed him. Viv Richards celebrates his century at Old Trafford with Michael Holding(Getty Images) An example of why this is the case could be seen exactly 40 years ago at Old Trafford in England. It was the first ODI of West Indies’ nearly four-month long tour of England. It included three ODI matches, five Test matches and a plethora of tour games, as was the norm in those days. Unlock exclusive access to the latest news on India’s general elections, only on the HT App. Download Now! Download Now! West Indies captain Clive Lloyd won the toss and chose to bat first. The pitch provided prodigious turn for the spinners and Geoff Miller used that to the full. He picked three wickets as England reduced West Indies to 166/9. Richards was the recognised batter at one end and fast bowler Michael Holding at the other and there was still more than 14 overs left in the 55-overs-a-side match. The pair added a whopping 106 runs for the last wicket with Richards’ share being 93. West Indies’ innings ended on 272/9. Viv Richards and Ian Botham during the epic knock(Getty Images) A chanceless aggressive innings In an era where strike rates over 100 were rare, Richards finished unbeaten on 189 off 170 balls, the highest score in men’s ODI cricket at the time. He hit a whopping 21 fours and five sixes and yet, his innings was almost entirely chanceless. The only chance England got against him was a missed stumping down the leg side off Miller when Richards was on 44. The next highest score by a West Indies batter in that innings was Eldine Baptiste’s 26 off 49 while Holding finished unbeaten on 12 off 27 balls. Richards, Baptiste and Holding were the only batters to have not got out for a single digit score on the day. England fell well short of that and they were all out for 168, just two runs more than what West Indies’ score was when Holding joined Richards. Holding recorded figures of 2/23 and Richards, notably got two wickets himself in the 11 overs that he bowled. Joel Garner was the most succesfull West Indies bowler though, returning figures of 3/18 in 8 overs. West Indies won the match by 104 runs. ‘His fitness is always going to be under the scanner’: Salman Butt’s blunt take on Pakistan’s Azam Khan | Cricket News

NEW DELHI: After Pakistan‘s seven-wicket loss to England in the fourth T20I match, former cricketer Salman Butt advised wicketkeeper-batter Azam Khan to improve his fitness, warning that it will be “very difficult” for him to continue playing otherwise.Azam had a poor performance in the fourth T20I, getting dismissed for a five-ball duck in the 11th over by Mark Wood.Speaking on his official YouTube channel, Butt noted that Azam’s eyes were closed when he was dismissed by Wood, and emphasized that Azam’s fitness will always be under scrutiny.“People are going to speak about him. The way he got out today, his eyes were closed while facing the short ball, and then his wicketkeeping. His fitness is always going to be under the scanner. I think he has to decide on his career. He should work on his fitness, otherwise, it is going to be very difficult for him to play,” Butt said.Butt added that the Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter invites criticism due to his fitness levels.“Everything related to Azam Khan will be criticized whenever he doesn’t perform. This is because what he presents is open to criticism. He invites criticism with the kind of fitness he carries. He had problems against the short ball,” he added.Recapping the match, the hosts won the toss and decided to field first. The England bowlers faced some aggressive batting from the opening pair of skipper Babar Azam (36 off 22 balls, with five fours and a six) and Mohammed Rizwan (23 off 16 balls, with three fours). However, spinners Adil Rashid (2/27) and Moeen Ali (1/23) applied pressure, reducing Pakistan to 86/5. A brief fightback from Usman Khan (38 off 21 balls, with three fours and two sixes) and Iftikhar Ahmed (21 off 18 balls, with two fours) helped Pakistan reach 157/10 in 19.5 overs. In addition to Rashid and Moeen, Mark Wood (2/35) and Liam Livingstone (2/17) also performed well with the ball.Chasing 158 runs, England dominated with a powerplay assault by Phil Salt (45 off 24 balls, with six fours and two sixes) and skipper Jos Buttler (39 off 24 balls, with seven fours and a six), making 78 runs in the powerplay.A brief comeback spell from pacer Haris Rauf (3/38) delayed England’s victory. However, Jonny Bairstow (28* off 16 balls, with a four and three sixes) and Harry Brook (17* off 14 balls, with a four and a six) finished the match in 15.3 overs, with seven wickets remaining.Adil Rashid was awarded the ‘Player of the Match’ for his outstanding spell.(With ANI inputs)

England Great Gives Massive Verdict On IPL After Series Win Over Pakistan

England Great Gives Massive Verdict On IPL After Series Win Over Pakistan

Jos Buttler in action for England© AFP There has been a lot of chatter over England players not playing in the IPL 2024 playoffs to join the national team for the series against Pakistan just ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024. Former England captain Michael Vaughan criticised the England Cricket Board (ECB) as he thought the IPL would have been a better place for preparation than facing Pakistan. He was even supported by former Pakistan cricketer Kamran Akmal. Following England’s 2-0 series win over Pakistan on Thursday, another former England captain Nasser Hussain also joined the competition and praised the IPL for setting up the players for big games and providing them brilliant practice to play in front of big crowds. “They’re a very balanced side, they’ve played in a lot of big games. We don’t talk enough about the IPL and how that obviously sets you up as a cricketer but also sets you up in big games. And under pressure and big crowds and that’s what you need going into a World Cup. So they’ve done all that they could do,” said Hussain on Sky Sports. Hussain further said that the England cricket team look balanced ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024 but they will need to  “They’ve just got to be better than they were at that 50-over World Cup. They went into that with a lot of hope and it didn’t start well and they didn’t react well. So they need to have a Plan B. If we don’t start well, if things don’t go well, how do we react? How do we react to slower pitches? How do we react when better sides come up against us? But under Buttler and what they’ve got in this side they’re in a real good place. They just got to go and do it,” he added. Topics mentioned in this article

England Overwhelm Pakistan In Final T20I Match Before World Cup Defence

England Overwhelm Pakistan In Final T20I Match Before World Cup Defence

Reigning champions England produced a fine all-round display as they beat Pakistan by seven wickets at The Oval on Thursday in their last competitive match before they begin the defence of their Twenty20 World Cup title. England restricted Pakistan to a modest 157 after winning the toss, with leg-spinner Adil Rashid, the player-of-the-match taking 2-27 from his maximum four overs. They then made a rapid start to their chase as Phil Salt (45) and skipper Jos Buttler (39) shared a blistering opening stand of 82 inside seven overs. Harry Brook ended the game with a six off paceman Haris Rauf, the pick of the Pakistan attack with 3-38, as England finished on 158-6 to win with more than three overs to spare. Victory gave England a 2-0 triumph in a four-match T20 series where games at Headingley and Cardiff were both washed out without a ball bowled. “We have worked hard in training and there is a good feeling around the squad,” Buttler told Sky Sports. Buttler was leading England after his wife gave birth to the couple’s third child following his dashing 84 in the hosts’ 23-run win in the second T20 at Edgbaston. “It would have been nice to get two more games in to expose a few guys to different situations,” Buttler added. “But we have really good experience in the group and a lot of guys have been playing in the IPL (Indian Premier League), so we are not short of cricket.” Both England openers launched Naseem Shah for huge sixes before Salt holed out off Rauf for a quickfire 45. Earlier, Pakistan had been well-placed at 59-0 after losing the toss at an overcast Oval. But they slumped to 86-5, the collapse starting when captain Babar Azam was caught at slip for a brisk 36 off fast bowler Jofra Archer. “It went well for five or six overs but then I got out,” said Azam. “The middle order needs to step up.  “We need to sort out those things for the World Cup. We have a few injuries but there are a lot of positives. Our play is good in patches.” Pakistan were also undone by a disciplined England attack, with Rashid telling reporters: “As a unit I thought we bowled exceptionally well. I know they (Pakistan) got off to a great start, but that’s T20 cricket.” Rashid was also enthused by the sight of injury-prone quicks Archer and Mark Wood, who took wickets with sharp bouncers, bowling in tandem.  “Jof and Woody, when you watch them bowl it is exciting,” he said.  “Seeing the ball zip off the pitch, the keeper taking it really high and it’s exciting to have two quality, world-class bowlers in our squad.” England launch their T20 World Cup campaign against Scotland in Barbados on June 4, with 2009 champions Pakistan in action two days later against co-hosts the United States in Dallas. Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Says Strategy In Place For T20 World Cup, Urges Fans To Fully Back Team

Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Says Strategy In Place For T20 World Cup, Urges Fans To Fully Back Team

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi has said that the team has a strategy in place for the T20 World Cup and appealed to supports and fans to back the team irrespective of whether it wins or loses matches. With two days left before the commencement of the tournament in the USA and the West Indies, Pakistan are gearing up for the marquee event. They are currently touring England for a four-match T20I series. Ahead of the 4th T20I to be played in London on Thursday, Naqvi made an appeal to the fans to support the team through the tournament. “Support the team and assure them that we [the fans] are with you [the team] whether you win or lose. I just want to request one thing which we really need for the next four weeks. Let us all support our players,” the PCB chairman told the media in London, according to Geo News. The first and the third T20I matches of the ongoing series were washed away due to rain without a ball being bowled. In the second T20I England took a 1-0 lead with skipper Jos Buttler’s 84-run blitz playing a pivotal role. Pakistan have tweaked their team combination during their series against Ireland and England. Unlike other teams, who have opted to bring in more spinners, Pakistan decided to name a pace-laden 15-player squad for the tournament. With the combination undergoing constant changes, Naqvi was asked about Pakistan’s combination for the World Cup. He affirmed that a strategy is in place and the players need to give their best on the field. “Overall, a strategy is in place that they don’t have to panic and give their best [on the field],” Naqvi noted. Pakistan are placed in Group A and will play their first match against the co-hosts USA on June 6 at the Grand Prairie Stadium, Texas. Pakistan Squad for T20 World Cup: Babar Azam (c), Abrar Ahmed, Azam Khan, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, Iftikhar Ahmed, Imad Wasim, Mohammad Abbas Afridi, Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Rizwan, Naseem Shah, Saim Ayub, Shadab Khan, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Usman Khan.
