Hardik Pandya Roars Back To Form With Best Display Of IPL 2024. Rohit Sharma Does This

Hardik Pandya struck form before the T20 World Cup while veteran Piyush Chawla also bagged three wickets as Mumbai Indians restricted Sunrisers Hyderabad for a below-par 173/8 in their IPL tie here on Monday. Pandya found rhythm and momentum to return 4-0-31-3 while Chawla (4-0-33-3) produced an impactful performance to trouble the SRH batters. This was Pandya’s fourth best bowling figures in the IPL. Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma was a happy man seeing the progress of his NO. 1 all rounder. To add to Pandya’s joy, MI won the match by 7 wickets with Suryakumar Yadav scoring an unbeaten ton. In complete contrast to last time these teams met earlier in this IPL when SRH hammered 277/3, their usually free-flowing batters struggled for momentum and lack of initiative meant they could never really trouble the Mumbai bowlers. The batters struggled on a two-paced surface and and MI were quick enough to capitalise. The powerplay had yielded 56 runs for the visitors without any damage but lack of initiative and regular fall of wickets stemmed the flow of runs. Coming on to bowl only in the second half of the innings, Chawla made the biggest impact with key wickets of Travis Head (48) and Heinrich Klaasen (2) to put Mumbai Indians in complete control. Head, who rode his luck throughout his stay in the middle, could not make the most of it. With two inside edges for boundaries at the start, SRH’s premier batter appeared to be struggling for timing and rhythm. In the fourth over, on 24, Head made room to smack MI debutant Ankush Kamboj and lost his off-stump in the process but that was when he got his first lifeline as the bowler was found to have overstepped. Head got another life when Nuwan Thushara spilled a regulation chance at deep third man when the opener was on 44 in the eighth over, but by then, SRH’s decline had already begun. Bumrah had got Abhishek Sharma (11 off 16 balls) caught behind and Mayank Agarwal (5) had become the Kamboj’s first victim. Nitish Kumar Reddy (20) was bounced out by Pandya, who also snaffled the wicket of Shahbaz Ahmed (10) later on to mark a complete flop show with the bat for SRH.

Best Catch Of IPL 2024? Kolkata Knight Riders Star's Stunning Effort Leaves Fans Awestruck - Watch

Best Catch Of IPL 2024? Kolkata Knight Riders Star’s Stunning Effort Leaves Fans Awestruck – Watch

Ramandeep Singh completes a stunning catch during IPL 2024© BCCI Ramandeep Singh pulled of a sensational catch that many fans and experts hailed as the “best catch of IPL 2024” during the match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Lucknow Super Giants on Sunday. During the second over of the LSG innings, young opener Arshin Kulkarni top-edged a swinging delivery from Mitchell Starc and the ball went high up in the night sky. Ramandeep was nowhere close to the ball but he sprinted a huge distance before pulling a full body dive to complete the catch. The effort left even the commentators awestruck as former Indian cricket team head coach Ravi Shastri screamed –  “That’s up in the air, difficult chance…ohhhhh! What a catch! Is that the best catch of the IPL?”. Former India star Deep Dasgupta agreed with him and responded with an “Oh my God”. Catch of the season so far, #KnightsArmy?pic.twitter.com/o76mu0UpAg — KolkataKnightRiders (@KKRiders) May 5, 2024 Coming to the match, Sunil Narine top-scored for KKR once again with 81 while Harshit Rana and Varun Chakaravarthy took three wickets each to guide the visitors to a huge win over LSG. “Lot of runs. Poor performance overall. It was a big total. Like I said, It’s a poor performance with both bat and ball. Narine in powerplay puts a lot of pressure. Our bowlers couldn’t handle this pressure. That’s how the IPL is. You will come against good players and that when you will be tested.” “Wicket is very good. There is a bit of bounce if you bowl hard length. It wasn’t a bad pitch. 235 was 20-30 runs were above par. Our batting was poor. We prepare in advance, we talk about the opposition batters, trying to see what kind of plans we need to come up with.” “We need to execute it when we come here, but we didn’t we make a couple of mistakes against Sunil and anyone who strikes well. Once we go back to dressing room, we move on from this game and see where we went wrong. Last home game, we are on the road for the next few games, we need to be little bit more fearless,” LSG captain KL Rahul said after the match.

"You Don't Want To Play And Not Perform": Ex India Star's Firm Take On Rohit Sharma's IPL 2024 Form

“You Don’t Want To Play And Not Perform”: Ex India Star’s Firm Take On Rohit Sharma’s IPL 2024 Form

Rohit Sharma hasn’t been in best form in IPL 2024© BCCI/Sportzpics With the Mumbai Indians’ campaign almost done and dusted in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, there’s little motivation for players to continue giving their best. The likes of Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, etc. are all established stars but haven’t been able to lift the Mumbai Indians’ campaign this season. As there remains the threat of their performances going down further, with MI unlikely to qualify for playoffs, former India cricketer Deep Dasgupta feels there’s still ‘pride’ to play for. Urging Rohit to not take his foot off the gas, Dasgupta urged the veteran opening batter to think of the forthcoming assignments and end the IPL campaign on a high. “You are playing for the pride of the team, you are playing as a professional cricketer and you are playing for your pride as well. You don’t want to play a game and not want to perform. Everytime you cross the line, you want to do your best,” Dasgupta told Star Sports. Dasgupta also feels next year’s IPL mega auction could be a key motivating factor for Rohit to do well. With Hardik now leading the franchise, it has been suggested by many that Rohit could decide to leave the franchise after the season. “Let’s not forget that next year is the big auction. This is the last few opportunities that all the professional cricketers have. Even if the team is not going to qualify, at least to put up a good show and tell everyone, ‘You know what, I am there’,” Dasgupta said. Dasgupta also feels that it’s important for Rohit to continue performing, keeping in mind his next assignment, which is the T20 World Cup 2024 with the Indian team. “He is such an integral part of the team since he is the captain, but he sets the tone as well at the top of the order. That’s what he has been doing for the last year and a half,” he added.

MS Dhoni's Own Medicine Used "To Fool" Him: On CSK Great's Struggles, Ex-India Star's Blunt Take

MS Dhoni’s Own Medicine Used “To Fool” Him: On CSK Great’s Struggles, Ex-India Star’s Blunt Take

IPL 2024: MS Dhoni gets dismissed vs Punjab Kings on Sunday© AFP The IPL on Sunday witnessed a rare scene. MS Dhoni, a genius in the death overs, fell for golden duck in a match against Punjab Kings in Dharamshala. Harshal Patel took the wicket as the fans present were shell-shocked. It was for the second time in two matches, that Dhoni got dismissed in the IPL 2024. Before that he stayed unbeaten for seventh straight matches. Coincidentally, both his dismissals came against Punjab Kings.  On Sunday, he was bowled by Harshal Patel, he got run out by in the last over. Former Indian cricket team opener Navjot Singh Sidhu had an interesting observation regarding Dhoni’s struggles against spin in the previous match. In that match against PBKS, Dhoni came to bat in the 18th over. In the 19th over, with Dhoni on Strike, Rahul Chahar was introduced. Dhoni could take only two runs in the over. “They got done in by something unexpected. They used Dhoni’s own medicine against him to fool him. Look at Dhoni’s practice. He always smashes those long hits in the nets against fast bowlers. He hasn’t practiced spin. In the entire tournament, if Dhoni has played 6 overs, they’ve all been against pace. But Punjab’s captain [Sam Curran] played a master stroke. He employed a spinner,” Sidhu said on Star Sports. “Dhoni wasn’t prepared. For 7-8 months, he hasn’t faced spin. It was almost as if he was startled. Tactic is like how you take the stinger out of the bee without getting stung. And that is where the game turned. And on top of it, Harpreet Brar bowled a faster one to Shivam Dube. Cannoned onto the stumps.” Regarding dismissing Dhoni  on Sunday, Harshal said: “Wicket was on drier side. I have too much respect for him to celebrate when I get him out (on Dhoni). One of the advantages of playing a day game is that the square is quite rough. So the ball starts reversing. In my first over it was reversing. It’s all about the feel of that delivery (slower one). More you bowl the better you get. Most batters don’t pick it. Have been practicing in the nets, and when it comes out it gives you great results,” Harshal said.

BCCI Breaks Silence After Trinidad PM Reveals Terror Threat To T20 World Cup, Report Says It's From ISIS

BCCI Breaks Silence After Trinidad PM Reveals Terror Threat To T20 World Cup, Report Says It’s From ISIS

The T20 World Cup in the Americas has received a terror threat, Trinidad’s Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley has revealed even as the ICC asserted that a “comprehensive and robust security plan” is in place to “mitigate any risks” to the showpiece beginning June 1. The tournament — featuring 20 teams, including India — is scattered across nine venues, six of them in the West Indies. As of now, the threat, according to media reports, is specific to the West Indies, which aside from some preliminary matches, will be hosting the entire Super 8 stage along with the semifinals and the final on June 29. “Unfortunately, the threat of terrorism in its many and varied expressions is an ever-present danger in the world of the 21st century,” Rowley was quoted as saying by ‘Trinidad Daily Express’ here. Rowley did not name any organisation but reports here stated that the Islamic State made the threat through its propaganda channel. The ICC responded to the development with a statement assuring preparedness. “Safety and security of everyone at the event is our number one priority and we have a comprehensive and robust security plan in place,” a spokesperson of the global body said in a statement issued to PTI. “We work closely with authorities in our host countries and continually monitor and evaluate the global landscape to ensure appropriate plans are in place to mitigate any risks identified to our event.” Rowley said “extra effort in national security preparations and response readiness” will be put in to neutralise the danger. “Given the fact that bad actors can choose to misbehave in any way possible, it makes it virtually impossible to completely seal off all opportunities,” he said. “However, in order to ameliorate these dangers, we at the local and regional levels have remained alert to many threats and singularly or together have our intelligence and other security agencies working to protect the population in countries and at venues throughout the tournament,” he added. The World Cup matches in the West Indies will be held in Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Guyana, Saint Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenada, Trinidad and Tobago. The US leg will feature games in Florida, New York and Texas. New York will host the marquee India-Pakistan clash on June 9. Cricket West Indies said everything is being done to ensure foolproof security at the mega-event. “We work closely with authorities in the host countries and cities, and continually monitor and evaluate the global landscape to ensure appropriate plans are in place to mitigate any risks identified to our event,” CWI CEO Jonny Graves told ‘Cricbuzz’. “We want to assure all stakeholders that safety and security of everyone at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup is our number one priority and we have a comprehensive and robust security plan in place,” he added. BCCI’s response Talking about the development, BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla told ANI: “As far as threat is concerned, the responsibility of security lies with the security agencies of the country that is hosting the game. Every precaution will be taken. We will take whatever steps are necessary for the safety of the players and spectators. We will talk to the agencies responsible for carrying out the World Cup. We will go according to the decision taken by the central government. We will be in touch with WI and USA Govts. All precautions will be taken. We wil be in touch with the ICC to take all necessary measures.” #WATCH On the issue of terror threat to T20 World Cup 2024, BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla says, “As far as threat is concerned, the responsibility of security lies with the security agencies of the country that is hosting the game. Not Hardik Pandya Or Shubman Gill: India Batter, Ignored For T20 World Cup, Was Being Groomed As Next Captain

Indian cricket team in action© AFP Former BCCI chief selector MSK Prasad revealed that Shreyas Iyer was being groomed to become a future Indian cricket team skipper. The batter, who was considered to be a big talent for the national side, missed out on a BCCI central contract after not playing domestic cricket despite not being on national duty. He did play some matches for Mumbai and also produced a couple of good knocks for Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2024 but the batter was once again ignored when the squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 was announced. However, Prasad revealed that selectors were earlier impressed with his leadership skills and considered him to be a top contender for India captaincy. “Shreyas Iyer, unlike Hardik Pandya or Ravindra Jadeja has been groomed (as a captain). He has come through a system,” Prasad said on RevSportz. Prasad, who served as the BCCI chief selector between 2016 and 2020, revealed that Shreyas caught their eye while captaining the India A side. “If you go back to the stats, in the last two years, when we were at the helm, Shreyas Iyer led the side (India A). I think out of the 10 series that India A played, we won 8. In the majority of those series, Shreyas led the side. He has been in and around as captain. He has been groomed for that particular slot,” Prasad said. “We felt that post Virat, post Rohit Sharma, you needed someone to lead the side that’s when we started thinking about Shreyas Iyer or Rishabh Pant. But even ahead of Pant, was Iyer as a captain,” he added. Prasad also had his say about Shreyas’ stint as the KKR captain. “He is slowly maturing into a very good leader. It’s very important at the start of your captaincy career to have good team management. That’s what he’s getting from KKR. He is young, and they are going to invest in him. In the next two or three years, we will see Shreyas evolve into a wonderful captain.”

India Star Reveals ‘Lie’ To Rahul Dravid That Led To IPL Selection – Old Video Viral

Sanju Samson has been a top performer for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2024 till now as the wicket-keeper batter has led by example. The RR skipper has been phenomenal with the bat and his sensational form led to his selection for India’s squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024. Samson’s journey in the Indian Premier League (IPL) has been an interesting one as he did not get a single game while being part of the Kolkata Knight Riders setup but things changed when he moved to RR in 2013. In a video that has once again gone viral on social media. a young Sanju Samson revealed how a ‘lie’ from S Sreesanth to Rahul Dravid ultimately led to his selection for RR. “Being with KKR, I wasn’t getting a look-in. But during a match against RR, when [Rahul] Dravid was leading them, Sreesanth spotted him in the hotel lobby and vouched for me. He told him, ‘There’s this kid from Kerala who smashed six sixes in an over in a local tournament. We should definitely give him a trial,’” Samson revealed in an old video that has resurfaced on social media. Was in KKR but couldn’t get games, Sreeshanth was in RR & when we had a game with RR where Dravid was their skipper, Sreeshanth stopped Dravid in the hotel & told him, this kid is from kerala, he has hit 6 sixes in an over in a local tourney, we should give him a trial & sanju is… pic.twitter.com/PaxWLb1C90 — arfan (@Im__Arfan) May 5, 2024 Former India fast bowler S Sreesanth earlier confirmed this story in an interview with Sportskeeda where he said that he initially lied to Dravid but the current India coach was impressed with Samson’s batting. “Rahul bhai listened to me when I introduced Sanju to him. I lied to him, I said, ‘This kid hit me for six sixes in a local tournament’. Rahul bhai said, ‘Shree, kuch bhi bol, ye kyu bol raha hai?’ (Say anything, but why are you lying like this),” Sreesanth had said. “He didn’t do too well in a few practice games. But when Rahul bhai saw him bat, he was convinced; he came to me and said, ‘Sree, don’t let this Sanju guy go to any other selection; we are signing him. Whether or not he’d get matches, I don’t know, but we would like to sign him,” he added.
