Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) face off against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Match 61 of IPL 2025 this Monday in Ekana. LSG have picked up 10 points from 11 matches and sit in seventh place. Their playoff hopes are still alive, but hanging by a thread—one more loss and it’s all over. Sunrisers, meanwhile, are already out of the running and will aim to wrap up their season on a positive note with a couple of strong results.

Lucknow Super Giants Preview

Lucknow Super Giants have had a choppy run this IPL—five wins, six losses, and sitting seventh with a rough NRR of -0.469. They’ve managed a few impressive wins but haven’t stitched together any real momentum. With three straight defeats behind them, they’ll need to win all of their remaining games—and do it with big margins—if they want to keep their playoff hopes alive.

There have been a few positives in their underpar campaign. Aiden Markram is starting to find rhythm. He’s looked more assured at the crease lately and has put up 348 runs in 11 innings, striking at 147—the third-best rate in the squad.

Mitchell Marsh and Nicholas Pooran have done most of the heavy lifting with the bat. Marsh has scored 378 in 10 innings at 155.55, including four fifties. Pooran’s been a level above—410 runs in 11 knocks at a strike rate of 201. If LSG are going to get a big score, odds are one of these three will be at the center of it.

Beyond them, the batting’s been shaky. Rishabh Pant’s form has dipped—just 128 runs from 10 games—and the middle order hasn’t brought much to the table. David Miller hasn’t looked comfortable either, struggling to find any rhythm.

Still, Ayush Badoni and Abdul Samad have played their part with some handy cameos, adding late runs that’ve made a difference more than once.

With the ball, Avesh Khan has led the pace attack. He’s taken 10 wickets in 10 matches and stepped up at the death. Ravi Bishnoi’s had a rougher season—nine wickets in 10 games and going at 10.41 an over. Digvesh Rathi, though, has stood out with 12 in 12 and an economy of just 8.09. If there’s any grip in the surface, he could be in business again.

Sunrisers Hyderabad Preview

Sunrisers Hyderabad are out of playoff contention, and honestly, that tracks with how their season’s played out—frustrating and flat. They’ve managed just three wins from 11 games and will now try to salvage a bit of pride with a couple of wins at the end.

When their top order fires, they look like a different team. But more often than not, early wickets have derailed them. So, the burden’s once again on Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head to get them off to a good start. Abhishek has had some bright moments—like his 141 off 88 against Punjab and 74 off 41 against GT—but he hasn’t been able to maintain consistency. Head’s form has dipped badly, and that’s been a major hurdle.

In the middle order, Heinrich Klaasen, Ishan Kishan, and Nitish Kumar haven’t done much damage on a consistent basis, but all three have played the occasional sharp innings. If just one of them gets going, it could be enough to turn things around in a game.

Aniket Verma’s been a rare bright spot. He’s hitting at a strike rate of 154 and has been reliable towards the back end of the innings. He knows how to finish.

Weather Conditions

Ekana isn’t the kind of pitch where you can start swinging from ball one. Batters usually do better when they take some time to get used to the surface. Scoring picks up once they’ve found their rhythm. As the game wears on, the pitch slows and can start acting up a bit, which puts spinners in the mix during the middle stages. For pacers, there’s not much on offer, so they’ll need to rely on slower ones and cutters to keep things under control.

The hot Lucknow weather will test stamina, though the forecast looks clear.

LSG vs SRH Pitch Report

The average first-innings score at Ekana is around 166. KKR set the highest score here last season with 235/6 against LSG, winning by a massive 98 runs. With the way the pitch has behaved so far in IPL 2025, teams batting first should be thinking 190 or more to stay in control.

Toss: To Bowl

Four of the five matches played at Ekana in IPL 2025 have been won by the chasing side, indicating clearly that this venue favors the chasing side.
