KKR vs SRH IPL 2024 final breaks 14-year-old historical record in tournament – India TV

Image Source : BCCI/IPL SRH and KKR players. The high-scoring IPL 2024 ended with a proper anticlimax with Kolkata Knight Riders thrashing Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final in a low-scoring game at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The Knight Riders clinched their third title after their win in 2012 and 2014. KKR chased down a meagre total of 114 after bowling SRH out for just 113 in 18.3 overs. The SRH batters had no answers for the KKR bowlers as all the six bowlers used took at least a wicket.  KKR hardly broke a sweat in the run-chase and went on to chase the target in just 10.3 overs with eight wickets in hand. This match has shattered a 14-year-old record in the IPL history. This whole match lasted for just 29 overs, making it the shortest playoff/knockout match in the history of IPL. The previous shortest game in terms of overs was the third-place playoff between RCB & Deccan Chargers in Navi Mumbai in 2010.  That game lasted 32.2 overs and was won by RCB. RCB bowled DC out for just 82 overs in 18.3 overs and then chased down the target in 13.5 overs with nine wickets in hand.

MATCH: New Zealand vs South Africa DATE: Feb 13 – Feb 17, 2024TIME: 03:30 IST / 2:00 GMTVENUE: Seddon Park – Hamilton, New ZealandTOURNAMENT: New Zealand vs South Africa 2nd Test 2024 New Zealand vs South Africa Betting Tips Kane Williamson scored a century in both innings of the first Test of the series and he is our pick for New Zealand’s highest run scorer against South Africa. Kyle Jamieson took six wickets across the opening match and the tall pace bowler is our tip for New Zealand’s top wicket taker in this game.David Bedingham hit 119 runs for South Africa last week and the right-hander is well worth backing as South Africa’s highest run scorer in Hamilton. Captain Neil Brand took eight wickets in Mount Maunganui and the left-arm spinner is a strong choice for South Africa’s top wicket taker against New Zealand. Now averaging 55.12 from 170 Test innings, we recommend selecting Kane Williamson to hit over 31.5 runs in this match. NZ vs SA 2nd Test Match Prediction & Betting Tips New Zealand and South Africa meet in the second and final Test in Hamilton with the game getting underway at 11:00am local time on Tuesday. It was a one-sided opening match of the series which saw New Zealand triumph by 281 runs in Mount Maunganui last week. Read on as we preview this game. The match takes place at Seddon Park on 13th February. New Zealand got ahead on Day 1 of the opening Test and never looked back as they won by a very large margin with a convincing display with both bat and ball in Mount Maunganui. Although Daryl Mitchell’s absence will leave a hole in the side, we still expect them to be far too strong. There certainly were some positives to take for South Africa from the first game but the truth is that they were completely outplayed and never looked capable of threatening to win the match. It would be a huge shock if they were able to then generate a stronger performance in Hamilton. NZ vs SA Match Toss PredictionIt is always a good batting surface in Hamilton and we expect that both teams will want to get first use of the pitch and post a large total. We predict both captains will choose to bat first. NZ vs SA Pitch ReportThere does not tend to be much turn for the spinners and the bowlers do have to work hard for their wickets. A par first innings score at Seddon Park will be over 500. Hamilton Weather ReportThe weather forecast is for consistent conditions across this Test in Hamilton with no rain but some cloudy spells across the five days with the temperature to reach the high twenties on most days. IPL’s batting marauders set a scorching pace, but will their feats endure?

IPL’s batting marauders set a scorching pace, but will their feats endure?

Remember those childhood days of yore with cricketing jousts in narrow lanes and dusty grounds? The boy who owned the bat could never get out. Often the petulant willow owner would leave with what he possessed. Just because everyone needed their turn at the crease, the despot’s blatant dismissals would be overturned until he was adequately satiated with runs. Pampered batters, hapless bowlers Cricket may have that sobriquet of being a ‘Gentleman’s Game’, but in this age of Twenty20, we may well call it a ‘Batter’s Game’. Be it those contests when we were young or the ones witnessed now at the ground and on television, the holder of the bat is always pampered, as fielding restrictions ensure that the rival attack is virtually running in with one hand tied. Endangered species: With the dice loaded so heavily against bowlers in Twenty20 cricket, R. Ashwin put out a social media post about the need to save his tribe. | Photo credit: Getty Images During childhood, there was that saving grace of a one-pitch catch and instant dismissal if the ball landed in the neighbour’s terrace, but no such fine print exists at the highest level. And you cannot blame R. Ashwin when he put out a social media post about the need to save bowlers. With the Indian Premier League’s (IPL) 17th edition merrily chugging along, the heat on the hapless bowlers is truly on. W.G. Grace, one of cricket’s greats with a mythical allure, once famously said: “They came to see me bat.” He then refused to depart on being dismissed. Perhaps his spirit has been allowed to waft into the air blowing across cricketing turfs. India has proved it is no exception and the latest IPL has again witnessed a batting carnage as maximums, to borrow a commentator’s cliche, or sixes, to be more direct, have rained across venues spread on the coast, across the Gangetic Plains and on either side of the Vindhyas. Last Sunday, Will Jacks smashed a 41-ball ton for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) against Gujarat Titans at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium. It does sound like a knock marinated with Muhammad Ali’s muscle and a cheetah’s speed. But please go easy on the superlatives, it is actually the fifth fastest IPL hundred. ‘Universe Boss’ Chris Gayle, who carved one off a mere 30 deliveries back in 2013, leads the charts. For those interested in trivia, Gayle was turning out for RCB too. However, what defined Jacks and his foray at the crease was the manner in which he progressed from 50 to 100. Like a wry RCB post on X mentioned, at 6.41 p.m., Jacks was on 50, and at 6.47 p.m., the England star had galloped to his three-figure mark. Spinner Rashid Khan, seamer Mohit Sharma and the rest were put to the sword. Earlier this IPL season, Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Travis Head struck a 39-ball century against RCB! Through the roof: The strike-rates this IPL season are so high that they could give any Mumbai skyscraper an inferiority complex. Travis Head, for instance, clocks 193.62. | Photo credit: Getty Images Rocketing strike-rates Batting strike-rates have gone through the roof. Veteran M.S. Dhoni’s 229.16 may be a reflection of the great traction he gains while facing just a few deliveries at the death, but even among top-order batters, the strike-rates are so high that they could give any Mumbai skyscraper an inferiority complex. Head, for instance, clocks 193.62. It is not as if the IPL has suddenly put cricket on the fast and furious lane. This has been a work in progress ever since Kerry Packer unveiled pyjama cricket under lights in Australia in the late 1970s. Cricket was no longer just about its classical avatar of Tests, as limited-overs cricket, offering floodlit instant gratification, blended entertainment into sport. As marketing departments gazed at the appeal of cricket and the way its newest variants pulled a fresh set of fans into the grounds, corporates jumped in. This was heady, as product launches were in sync with the sporting calendar, money flowed, and cricketers became instant celebrities. Bring on the over-sized sunshades, low-slung caps, ears glued to music and that wave of the hand. Branding was a part of the game and cricket played along. Tests continue and till date remain the game’s finest exposition, but ODIs and T20s bring in the commerce. Be it the dollar, rupee or taka, cricket’s abridged versions haul in the moolah, and interestingly this is linked with the manner in which batters wield their blades. The laws were tweaked, field restrictions were enforced, bowlers could only peddle a given set of overs, and it meant batters found a sense of liberation. “Runs, as long as they come, are welcome, it doesn’t matter how they come,” became a subtext in commentary boxes. Edges flew thick and fast through vacant slips, skiers skimmed the turf in no-man’s land, and batters knew that their weaknesses could be camouflaged. The shorter the game, the more difficult it is to target a batter’s weak traits. In Tests, place a forward short-leg, have an expansive slip-cordon and give the spearhead an extended run. In ODIs and T20s, no such luxury exists for the fielding captain. The latest IPL, with its impact-player substitution, has further emboldened batting units. There is always one extra player to fall back upon. Batters hit through the line, there is a certain golfing skill at play too as they tee off, and then add the feather-bed pitches. Global warming, meanwhile, has been frying the earth, and in India even the summer showers have proved elusive. Nature has presented a hot and sultry cauldron, and as pitches bake, underlying moisture escapes and the grass wilts, batters find more allies in the playing surface. Loaded dice In Bengaluru, IPL matches tended to get moisturised by impromptu rains. The game’s tenor changes, one-sided scripts alter, and everyone is in with a chance. This year, though, has been a dry affair in the Deccan Plateau. The only…

India vs Pakistan Match Prediction & Betting Tips, T20 World Cup 2024 India will take on Pakistan in the 19th game of the T20 World Cup 2024. The game will be played at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, New York and will start at 8:00 PM IST on June 9. India will be confident heading into the blockbuster match against Pakistan after a comprehensive win over Ireland in their tournament opener. Indian bowlers had a brilliant outing against Ireland and bowled them out for a mere 96. Later, a 52* by Rohit Sharma ensured an easy win for the team.  Pakistan on the other hand suffered a shambolic defeat to USA in the last game. Despite going into the game as heavy favourites, Pakistan failed to play their best cricket. Pakistan batting crumbled against USA and the team could only score 159 in 20 overs, courtesy of Shadab Khan’s 40, however, the bowlers failed to defend the target. USA pushed the match in the Super Over where Pakistan conceded a defeat. The game against India now becomes a must win for Pakistan in terms of Super 8 qualification. The Men in Green will somehow have to beat India to keep realistic hopes of reaching the next round. India vs Pakistan Match Toss PredictionCaptain winning the toss should bowl first as there will be help on offer for the bowlers and there is a chance of team getting shot down for low score. India vs Pakistan Pitch ReportThis is not an easy wicket to bat. The conditions are expected to be better than what we have seen in previous games, however, it will still pose a challenge to the batters if the bowlers pitch the ball in right area. Azam Khan shown no mercy after flop show vs England as PCB, Babar Azam accused of ‘nepotism’

Azam Khan’s selection for Pakistan’s T20 World Cup team created plenty of controversy, due to his position as son of former national team skipper Moin Khan. Now his form has also not helped his cause, and has given more impetus to fans to criticise his selection. Pakistan’s Azam Khan walks back to the changing rooms after losing his wicket.(AP) The wicketkeeper-batter was dismissed for a five-ball duck in Pakistan’s fourth T20I against England. Receiving a short delivery by Mark Wood, Aam could only loop it into the air, for a simple catch behind the stumps. Pakistan could only post 157 in 19.5 overs. Mediocrity rules here in every department. Shameless people who persisted with him must be charged and sentenced. This is a criminal act not a simple mistake.” Here are the other reactions- For the T20 World Cup, Pakistan are placed in Group A, alongside Canada, India, Ireland and the USA. Babar Azam and Co. will open their campaign on June 6, taking on the USA in Texas. Speaking after Pakistan’s defeat in the series vs England, Babar said, “First six overs, we played very well. After that, the momentum shifted as wickets fell. Our middle-order needs to step up. You need 2-3 good overs in the middle and in the death as well. England’s bowling was very good. Hopefully we don’t do this in the World Cup. We made a couple of changes due to the injuries. Our powerplay was good. We have played good cricket in patches.”

There’s terror threat to T20 World Cup, reveals Trinidad PM

Rohit Sharma was declared the captain while Hardik Pandya will be the vice-captain of India’s squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. The T20 World Cup, to be co-hosted by the USA and West Indies, has received a terror threat, Trinidad’s Prime Minister said. The tournament features 20 teams, including India. | Photo Credit: PTI The T20 World Cup, to be co-hosted by the USA and West Indies, has received a terror threat, Trinidad’s Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley has revealed but asserted that “extra effort in national security preparations and response readiness” will be put in to neutralise the danger. The tournament— featuring 20 teams, including India— is due to start on June 1. As of now, the threat, according to media reports, is specific to the West Indies, which aside from some preliminary matches, will be hosting the entire Super 8 stage along with the semifinals and the final on June 29. “Unfortunately, the threat of terrorism in its many and varied expressions is an ever-present danger in the world of the 21st century,” Mr. Rowley was quoted as saying by ‘Trinidad Daily Express’ here. Mr. Rowley did not specifically name any organisation but reports here stated that the Islamic State made the threat through its propaganda channel. “It is against this backdrop that all nations, like our region, when hosting large or vulnerable gatherings, make an extra effort in national security preparations and response readiness to take seriously, all threats, expressed or implied,” he added. Mr. Rowley said the event, which is scattered across nine venues, six of them in the West Indies, will be closely monitored throughout its duration to ensure there is no security breach. “Given the fact that bad actors can choose to misbehave in any way possible, it makes it virtually impossible to completely seal off all opportunities,” he said. “However, in order to ameliorate these dangers, we at the local and regional levels have remained alert to many threats and singularly or together have our intelligence and other security agencies working to protect the population in countries and at venues throughout the tournament,” he added. The World Cup matches in the West Indies will be held in Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Guyana, Saint Lucia, St Vincent and Grenada, Trinidad and Tobago. The U.S. leg will feature games in Florida, New York and Texas. New York will host the marquee India-Pakistan clash on June 9. Reacting to the development, Cricket West Indies said everything is being done to ensure foolproof security at the mega-event. “We work closely with authorities in the host countries and cities, and continually monitor and evaluate the global landscape to ensure appropriate plans are in place to mitigate any risks identified to our event,” CWI CEO Jonny Graves told ‘Cricbuzz’. “We want to assure all stakeholders that safety and security of everyone at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup is our number one priority and we have a comprehensive and robust security plan in place,” he added. When the ICC was contacted for a response, its representatives said that their stand is similar to CWI.

CCH vs COV T20 Match Prediction & Betting Tips, BPL 2024 Match 29 of the 2024 Bangladesh Premier League sees Chattogram Challengers and Comilla Victorians go head to head on Tuesday afternoon as Phase 4 gets underway. The Challengers have 10 points from eight games with the Victorians on the same points but from one fewer fixture. Read on as we preview this game. The match begins at the Zohur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram at 13:30 local time on February 13th. Chattogram Challengers were well beaten by Rangpur Riders in their last game on Saturday and they have a very poor record against Comilla Victorians. This will be a tough clash for the Challengers but they know they can go very close to the top of the table with a victory. Comilla Victorians won with only one ball remaining in their last game but getting victories in tight games is what successful teams do. They have only lost two matches all season and they will fancy their chances of picking up another win in this fixture. CCH vs COV Match Toss PredictionOnly three games during the Chattogram Phase saw the toss winning captain choose to bat first. We predict that both skippers will want to field first in this game. CCH vs COV Pitch ReportThere were some high scores at this venue in last year’s BPL but overall it is a pitch which produces a good contest between bat and ball. A par score is likely to be no higher than 170. Chattogram Weather ReportThere is no danger of any rain interrupting this clash on Tuesday afternoon in Chattogram. The temperature will be in the mid-high twenties. Read on for team previews, betting tips, latest odds, and match prediction for Chattogram Challengers vs Comilla Victorians, BPL 2024
