ENG vs SL Match Prediction & Analysis Any Test Match at Lord’s is a spectacular experience for fans and players alike with this week’s contest between England and Sri Lanka expected to be no different! It is always interesting to see how the visiting XI are able to perform at a venue steeped in history but one which gives opportunities to pace bowlers with the slope and batters with the true and consistent nature of the wicket. TEAMS PREVIEW England Preview After England took the field with an almost unrecognisable Test side from only 18 months earlier at Old Trafford, the team will have an even more in-experienced look at Lord’s after pace-supremo Mark Wood was ruled out due to a strain sustained in the First Test which prevented him bowling on day four. He joins captain Ben Stokes and opener Zak Crawley on the sidelines with question marks also against Chris Woakes who appeared to be struggling with a groin injury during the final exchanges on Saturday. Sri Lanka Preview After finding themselves 3/6 on the first morning of the Old Trafford Test and then 2/1 after conceding a first innings deficit of 122 runs, Sri Lanka showed plenty of grit, determination, character and ability to push England close and only lose by five wickets last week. As a result, we expect Dhananjaya de Silva to announce an unchanged side at Lord’s which means a second international cap for Milan Rathnayake who made his debut in Manchester. Weather Conditions The conditions look like being very consistent across the five days of this Test with the rain interruptions and cold conditions of Manchester consigned to last week! According to the forecast the temperature will be in the mid-twenties throughout the Test and we should get large periods of sunshine on each day. ENG vs SL Pitch Report At some Test grounds the players arrive on Day One of the match unsure what the pitch will deliver but that is never the case at Lord’s. We can expect a very good batting wicket for the first three days of the Test although there could be some grass left on the surface which will interest the bowlers during the first session. Whoever bats first will be targeting 350-400 as a competitive total.
