“If This Was Virat Kohli….”: Irfan Pathan, Mohammad Kaif Slam Critics’ Double-Standard With SRH Star’s Example

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) star batter Virat Kohli has been piling up runs in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), despite criticism over his strike-rate. The former RCB captain is second in scoring charts with 500 runs in 10 matches, only nine runs behind current Orange Cap holder Ruturaj Gaikwad. However, his knocks have been often overshadowed by his debatable strike-rate. Amid criticism, Kohli has found the backing of former India cricketers Irfan Pathan and Mohammad Kaif. Irfan and Kaif slammed his critics for showing double standards with the interesting example of SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) batter Travis Head. For the unversed, Head has been in sensational form in the IPL himself. The Australian opener has scored 396 runs in nine matches, striking at over 194. However, during SRH’s game against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Thursday, even Head struggled to time the ball. At one point, he was batting on 25 off as many deliveries, and ended up scoring 58 off 44 balls with a strike-rate of 131.8. Speaking on Head’s knock, Irfan and Kaif suggested that if Kohli had played a similar knock, everyone would have been talking about his strike rate for days. “According to his ability, you have never seen him play like this. No matter what you say that there was good bowling and everything, but every cricketer should be treated equally,” Irfan said on Star Sports. Kaif echoed his sentiments, and added: “You are right, if this was Virat Kohli, I can guarantee that people would have said only 58 runs in 44 balls? What is this? They would say it is low and there would have debates about his strike rate. But I believe that this was a good innings by Head.” Irfan further explained how Kohli has been carrying RCB with his batting, especially with the franchise languishing at the bottom of the points table. “But if there was Virat Kohli instead, people would have stuck to the strike rate but here we are talking about taking responsibility for team’s victory, so please treat everyone equally,” Irfan added. Kohli had also addressed the debate surrounding his strike-rate. He had taken a swipe at his critics after the match against Gujarat Titans and said: “All the people who talk about [my] strike rate and me not playing spin well are the ones who love to talk about these things. But for me, it is just about winning the game. There’s a reason why you do it for 15 years. Because you do this day in and day out and won games for your team,” said Kohli after the Gujarat Titans game. “I am not sure if you haven’t been in that situation, to sit and speak about the game from the box. I don’t think it is the same thing. I am just doing my job. People can talk about their own ideas and assumption on the game (sic),” he added. Kohli will have the chance to reclaim the Orange Cap when RCB take on GT on Saturday. Topics mentioned in this article

Sunil Narine is KKR's 'Superman', Russell a 'fashionista': Shah Rukh Khan

Sunil Narine is KKR’s ‘Superman’, Russell a ‘fashionista’: Shah Rukh Khan

Riding on Narine’s blazing innings, including a century and two half-tons and nearly a dozen wickets, KKR are currently second on the table. The two-time champions could well break the decade-long jinx of not winning an IPL title if Narine’s charisma continues to shine through this season. “In our house, we call him Superman, the god particle. He’s a boss on the field, a player, a bowler, a batsman, a wicketkeeper, a fielder. He’s an ‘anything’ player,” Shah Rukh told Star Sports show ‘Knight Club presents – King Khan’s Rules’ about the 35-year-old stalwart, who played a pivotal role in KKR lifting the trophy in 2012 and 2014. Narine, the highest wicket-taker in the IPL among overseas spinners, had taken 21 and 24 respectively in the 2012 and 2014 editions, paving the way for the purple and gold jerseys to clinch the two IPL titles. “He’s so spirited, so lovely. We’re very fortunate to have players, Indian or foreign, who have deep feelings for the team… Sunil, like I said, he’s an ‘anything’ player.” The Bollywood star added that Narine and country-mate Andre Russell were pivotal to the club’s ethos, saying any one of them getting injured feels like a body blow to the side. When they get injured, it feels awful to wonder how we’ll manage without them. It’s so crucial. They’ve been with us for so many years, and I think the way they have supported the team, they’re like part of the family,” said Shah Rukh. Russell is a cut above the rest when it comes to hairstyle, and Shah Rukh said the cricketer is a “fashionista”. The mohawk he made popular when he came into the IPL continues to trend even now, though more than a decade has elapsed since the fancy cut was first made popular by the West Indian. “Such a wonderful person to be around, and such a great cricketer. He reminds us of the first big man like Universe Boss, Mr. Gayle. He’s like that, and I love the fact that he’s very fashion-conscious. He likes to dress well, do his hair.” “Last night, I asked him, ‘Do you have some two-colour shoes?’ He said no, but he has designer spikes. So I said, ‘Are they Gucci designer spikes?’ Wow! Yes, well, I love the way he’s a fashionista.” Russell has forged a strong bond with Rinku Singh and Shah Rukh says their camaraderie reminds him of Jai-Veeru in the iconic movie ‘Sholey’. “Rinku and he have such a strong bond, like the Jai-Veeru friendship. They’re so different, yet they love each other and help each other as cricketers and as people. They’re so different, yet they love each other and help each other as cricketers and as people.” Team mentor Gautam Gambhir, who returned to the side this season after a stint with Lucknow Super Giants, will always remain KKR’s icon, given that he guided the team to two IPL titles and helped them qualify for the playoffs five times. “The great thing about Gautam Gambhir being back with us is that I never felt like he left us. Whether he’s in our team or mentoring someone else, there’s never any animosity or competition with him.” Part 1 of Knight Club presents – King Khan’s Rules will air at 6.15pm on the evening of May 3.

𝐌𝐀𝐓𝐂𝐇 : Hong Kong vs Kuwait 𝐃𝐀𝐓𝐄 : Aug 24, 2024𝐓𝐈𝐌𝐄 : 08:00 AM IST𝐕𝐄𝐍𝐔𝐄 : Selangor Turf Club, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia 𝐓𝐎𝐔𝐑𝐍𝐀𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓 : T20 International Tri Nations Cup 2024 Kuwait’s big test after batting meltdown in the last game Hong Kong vs Kuwait TV channels: The fans can watch the match live on Hotstar Live Streaming: Live streaming of the match will be available on the FAFA191 Cricket Exchange India and website. HKG vs KUW Match Prediction & Analysis We are in for a good contest in the Malaysia T20I Tri-Nations Cup, 2024. Hong Kong will be up against Kuwait in the 4th game as both teams look to move up on the points table. Kuwait went down against Malaysia in the last game, and the side is looking to regain its form. Hong Kong will feel confident after their win against Malaysia and shall look to build on that momentum.   Hong Kong has enjoyed a good record against Kuwait. They have lost only once against them and shall look to extend their good record. The team has experienced batsmen, adding to their strength. Kuwait would have low confidence after their big loss in the last game. It will be interesting to see if they can repeat the success. Hong Kong Preview Nizakat Khan’s team found its form in the last game against hosts Malaysia, defeating them by 6 wickets. This win will help the side regain its confidence after starting the tournament with a loss. They had lost to Kuwait earlier, and Khan would like to settle the score with a strong show in this game.   Kuwait Preview Mohammad Aslam lost against Malaysia in the last game by 5 wickets. It was a poor show from the side with the bat as they folded up for a mere 70 runs batting first. They defeated Hong Kong in the first game, and Aslam wanted his team to repeat the same magic. A win here would place them comfortably on the points table.   Weather Conditions We expect cloudy skies over Kuala Lumpur, and rain may disrupt the game. The wicket has been slow, and batsmen have struggled to score runs. The average first innings score in the last three games has been 113 runs. The side batting first shall look to have 160 runs to feel confident. HKG vs KUW Pitch Report Selangor Turf Club, Kuala Lumpur, is a small venue with a lively surface where bowlers have done well. The shorter boundaries here make hitting easy. Fast bowlers have done well on this surface, but spinners must rely on their skills as the wicket doesn’t have much for them.

How will surface at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi play? – India TV

How will surface at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi play?

Image Source : BCCI/IPL Delhi Capitals will take on the Rajasthan Royals in a must-win clash at home in the 2024 edition of the IPL Delhi Capitals’ final run to attempt qualification for the playoffs in the 2024 edition of the IPL kicks off on Tuesday, May 7 against the Rajasthan Royals and the 2020 finalists need to win each of their remaining three games. Delhi suffered a massive loss against the Kolkata Knight Riders in their last game, which was a blip in their late resurgence as they were coming off four wins in the five matches prior to that clash. Rajasthan Royals dropped a game and are yet to get a ‘Q’ against their name, which is enough motivation factor for the Men in Pink, who also lost their top spot on the table. Delhi will be sweating over the fitness of their two senior players David Warner and Ishant Sharma, who have been out of the action for more than a couple of weeks due to their respective injuries. The Royals, on the other hand, will be without Jos Buttler for the latter part of the tournament and would want to try Tom Kohler-Cadmore in a few games before the playoffs to give him a sense of the competition. Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi pitch report The lowest first-innings score in Delhi has been 223, which tells you the nature of the surface in the capital so far in the tournament. It’s been 10 days since the last match took place at the Arun Jaitley Stadium and the temperatures have soared a bit in the capital since then. Like the surfaces around the country, the heat is likely to have some effect on the pitches in Delhi too as expect them to be a little drier than before. Dry means turn, which in turn means grip in the surface and assistance for the bowlers. Despite the surface being a bit slow, it might not be 150-160 slow. The small boundaries at the Arun Jaitley Stadium and the fast outfield will still favour the batters but the wicket is used one, given the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad was played on it. All three matches have been won by the team batting first so far in Delhi and with it being a used wicket, there is an expectation of it playing a bit slower in the second innings and hence the captain winning the toss is likely to bat first.
