IPL 2024, MI vs KKR: Hardik Pandya not ready to โ€˜leave the battlefieldโ€™ after crushing loss

IPL 2024, MI vs KKR: Hardik Pandya not ready to โ€˜leave the battlefieldโ€™ after crushing loss

Hardik Pandya reflected on MI’s loss against KKR at the Wankhede Stadium on May 3, Friday. Hardik admitted that the team could not stitch any partnerships and kept on losing wickets, which resulted in their loss. KKR ended their 12-year jinx at the iconic venue with a terrific win by 24 runs. With the victory, Kolkata also consolidated their second position in the points table with 7 wins in 10 games. Meanwhile, MI slumped to their 8th loss of the season from 11 matches. While speaking at the post-match presentation ceremony, Hardik talked about MI’s defeat and what went wrong in the game. Amid MI’s poor run in the tournament, Hardik said that it would take time to answer the questions being posed to the team. However, he was happy with the way the MI bowlers bowled. “Obviously, we couldn’t form partnerships and kept losing wickets. There are a lot of questions that will take time to answer. But for now, not much to say. Bowlers did a fantastic job on this track,” Hardik said. IPL 2024, MI vs KKR: Match Report ‘Challenges make you better’ MI opted to bowl first and cashed in on the advantage by leaving KKR tottering at 57 for 5. N Thushara picked up 3 wickets and ran through KKR’s top-order. However, Venkatesh Iyer, with his 70-run knock, along with Manish Pandey led Kolkata’s recovery as they managed to put 169 runs on the board. IPL 2024 Full Coverage | IPL 2024 Points Table and Standings | 2024 IPL Full Schedule Hardik mentioned that the wicket got better in the 2nd innings, but the lack of partnerships led to their downfall in the chase. Hardik held his head high and remained determined to keep fighting, despite the tough challenges. “The wicket got better if I’m not wrong. Dew came in the second innings. Will go through the game and see what we can do better. You keep fighting, that is what I tell to myself, never leave the battlefield. Tough days come but good also come here. It’s challenging, but challenges make you better,” Hardik added. KKR bowlers were all over the MI batters as the hosts found themselves reduced to 71 for 6. Suryakumar Yadav played a counter-attacking innings of 56 runs from 35 balls. However, that did not prove to be enough as Mitchell Starc picked up 4 wickets for 33 runs to blow away MI’s lower order. Veteran Spinner Ignores India For T20 World Cup Final, Says It Will Be Pakistan vs…

Veteran Australian cricket team spinner Nathan Lyon ignored India while choosing the finalists for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 and said that he expects a summit clash between Australia and Pakistan. In a recent video, Lyon was asked to predict the two sides who may end up playing each other in the final of the competition and he said that his first choice is obviously Australia. He admitted that he was biased in the answer and added that he thinks Australia will face Pakistan. He picked Pakistan because he believes their spinners will have a good show in the tournament and he even namedropped star batter Babar Azam. โ€œFor the T20 finals team, Australia obviously because I’m quite biased towards them. I think it will be I’m going to go with Pakistan. In those conditions, quality spin bowlers, but also electric batters like Babar Azam,โ€ said Lyon in a video shared by Prime Video Sports Australia. Lyon further predicted that this year’s tournament may see a team getting the highest total in T20I history and also backed Australia T20I skipper Mitchell Marsh to have a brilliant tournament. โ€œI think early on in the tournament we may see the highest score in T20. I’m going to go, Mitchell Marsh, I think the power that he has with the bat but also the skill he has with the ball in hand as well. So, go well Mitch,โ€ he added. Norway Chess: R Vaishali Outwits Pia Cramling, R Praggnanandhaa Loses To Hikaru Nakamura

Norway Chess: R Vaishali Outwits Pia Cramling, R Praggnanandhaa Loses To Hikaru Nakamura

Indian Grandmaster R Vaishali continued her dream run to defeat veteran GM Pia Cramling of Sweden, while her brother R Praggnanandhaa went down fighting against Hikaru Nakamura of USA in the fourth round of the Norway chess tournament in Stavanger. Vaishali stretched her lead to 2.5 points following her second win under classical time control. The Indian now has 8.5 points in her kitty and is followed by women’s world champion Wenjun Ju of China and Anna Muzychuk of Ukraine. Muzychuk defeated Koneru Humpy for her first win in the tournament while Wenjun got through her compatriot Tingjie Lei in the Armageddon. With six rounds still remaining in the six-player double round-robin tournament, Lei stands fourth on five points, two points clear of Humpy and Cramling. In the men’s section, world number one Magnus Carlsen grinded down arch-rival Fabiano Caruana of United States on a day that witnessed all decisive games under classical time control. In the other game of the day, Firouzja Alireza of France put it across reigning world champion Ding Liren of China. The USD 1,61,000 prize money tournament has many more critical games to come but at the end of fourth round Nakamura has nosed ahead on seven points, enjoying a half point lead over Alireza. Carlsen is third with six points to his credit while Praggnanandhaa slipped to fourth position on 5.5 points. Caruana is a close fifth at this stage with five points while Liren is a distant last on just 2.5 points thus far. Vaishali won thanks to her perseverance out of a drawn rook and pawns endgame. Playing the black side of a Grunfeld defense, the Chennai-based GM had little trouble equalising and the players arrived at a heavy piece endgame in almost no time. Cramling had to solve her pawn structure problem a bit and this is where Vaishali thought she had a chance. The game was still within the boundaries of a draw when Cramling blundered and found herself staring at a lost rook and pawns endgame. The game lasted 54 moves. Humpy lost to Muzychuk in what was a similar story. The rook and pawns endgame should have been a draw but a blunder by Humpy towards the end sealed the fate of the game in Muzychuk’s favour. This was Muzychuk’s first victory in Classical chess in almost seven months. In the men’s section, Nakamura capitalised on some unforced errors from Praggnanandhaa. The Nimzo Indian defense by the Indian resulted in a dynamic balance but Praggnanandhaa got too optimistic in the resulting middle game and sacrificed a knight. The compensation, however, was not enough and Nakamura converted his extra material into a full point after 86 moves. Carlsen defeated Caruana out of a Queen and pawns endgame. Outplaying his opponent from a balanced position has long been a hallmark of Carlsen and this day was no different as he won thanks to a blunder by Caruana in the final part of the game. They will look forward to make a strong comeback in this contest.   The Dragons have a poor record against the Chepauk Super Gillies. Pakistan announce USD 100,000 reward per player if team wins T20 World Cup 2024

Each member of Pakistanโ€™s T20 World Cup squad will get USD 100,000 if the team wins the ICC event in June in Americas, the country’s cricket board announced on Sunday. The announcement was made by the PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi after spending nearly two hours with the players here before their departure for the away T20 series against Ireland and England on Monday night. Naqvi also said that the prize money held no importance compared to lifting the trophy, expressing the hope that the team would raise the Pakistan flag. “Chairman PCB Mohsin Naqvi announced to give 100,000 dollars prize to every player for winning the T20 World Cup,” the PCB posted on social media. He also told the players “not to care about anyone” but to just play for Pakistan and demonstrate teamwork, and, “God willing”, victory will be gained by the team. Naqvi further said that all the players were united while also expressing the hope that fast-bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi would deliver a great performance in the tournament. โ€œThe country has a lot of expectations from you. You have to fulfil them,โ€ he told the players. During his visit, the PCB chairman also handed out special shirts to players for achieving milestones. Wicketkeeper-batter Mohamad Rizwan was awarded a shirt for completing 3,000 T20 runs while pacer Naseem Shah was awarded a shirt for taking 100 T20 wickets. Virat Kohli is always the first to board RCB team bus. Here is why

Virat Kohli is always the first to board RCB team bus. Here is why

Cameron Green revealed that Virat Kohli always boards the RCB team bus before anyone else and that it’s a conscious choice from the whole group. The Australian all-rounder said the rest of Kohli’s teammates prefer getting onto the bus when things settle down after the reception from fans for their former captain. The love and support for Kohli and RCB has only grown over the years, despite the team failing to lift the coveted IPL trophy year after year. While speaking at an event, Green was asked who was the ‘good boy’ in the RCB team, and who came for team meetings and the team bus on time. The star all-rounder picked Virat Kohli, much to the delight of the audience at the event. “Probably Virat to be fair, I think it’s good for him to get on the bus, all the crowd can go wild and then everyone, calms down, and we’ll just walk down quietly,” Green said. Despite their floundering campaign, RCB have had a healthy dressing room atmosphere and the camaraderie among the players has been evident. The former champions are rooted to the bottom of the points table with just 3 wins in their first 10 matches of IPL 2024. IPL 2024 Full Coverage | IPL 2024 Points Table and Standings | 2024 IPL Full Schedule RCB FANS’ LOVE FOR TEAM AND KOHLI RCB’s centurion from their last match against GT, Will Jacks, also talked about the support the franchise has received over the years. He pointed out that the fans with their RCB jerseys on made the team feel at home, whichever ground they play at. He also mentioned the players hearing RCB and Kohli chants wherever they go. The England batting star flaunted how RCB fans have dominated crowds across the country and highlighted the ‘Kohli, Kohli’ chants at every venue in IPL 2024. “I think I’m stuck on what counts as it feels like every game is a home game. It’s amazing, you see at least half of RCB shirts in the crowd. It’s an amazing feeling, they are always chanting obviously. Kohli chants everywhere and RCB chants. You don’t feel under pressure, like you are out of the way there and you feel like there is something out of there. You always feel you got support and if you do well, they will cheer for you,” Jacks said. Fans have lived up to the tag of ’12th man’ for RCB so far. The former finalists will look to play for pride and finish their season on a high. RCB next face Gujarat in Bengaluru on Saturday, May 4. Published By: Diya Kakkar Published On: May 2, 2024

5 penalty runs! Rookie mistake from USA that shifted momentum in India’s favour | Cricket News

NEW DELHI: India survived early hiccups to overcome ‘giant killers’ USA and become the third team to qualify for Super Eight stage after Australia and South Africa. With a seven-wicket victory, India remained unbeaten with their third victory on the trot in Group A after defeating Ireland and Pakistan.Chasing 111, India found themselves at the spot of bother at 3/44 in 7.3 overs. Suryakumar Yadav (50*) and Shivam Dube (31*) restored parity with their unbeaten 67-run stand and took India past the finish line in 18.2 overs.T20 World Cup 2024: Points Table | ScheduleIndia struggled to score runs on the challenging Nassau County track, as they reached 76/3 after 15 overs. Surya and Dube, who were at the crease, found it hard to connect with the ball due to the unpredictable nature of the surface. The match took an unexpected turn when the USA team committed a costly error, awarding India five penalty runs and reducing the equation from 35 off 30 to 30 off 30. This sudden shift in momentum proved to be a turning point of the game. The reason for the co-hosts to have been docked five penalty runs was because USA took more than a minute between overs three times. And per the new rules, that’s a penalty.According to the updated regulations, if a team exceeds the allotted 60 seconds to commence a new over on three occasions within an innings, they will face a penalty of five runs being deducted from their total score. The umpires have enforced this rule, and as a result, USA have been docked 5 penalty runs. This decision was made due to the team’s repeated failure to start their overs within the stipulated time frame. The penalty runs will be added to the opposition’s total, putting the USA team at a disadvantage.
