After a brilliant captain’s performance from Liam Livingstone on Saturday, this series comes down to a day-night-decider in Barbados!

No matter the length of a bi-lateral series, the organisers always want to see a final match with something riding on it and that is exactly what the two sets of players, the supporters in the ground and the TV viewers will get at the Kensington Oval on Wednesday.

That said, for much of the game on Saturday, it looked as though West Indies would easily wrap up the series 2-0 but some intelligent, controlled and ultimately powerful batting from Sam Curran and Liam Livingstone got England over the line with plenty of time to spare.

West Indies Preview

There are some question marks over the fitness of Evin Lewis who hobbled away from the final seven overs of Saturday’s game but he is expected to be fit to play in this match and West Indies will be keen to see it happen after he impressed so much with the bat in the opening ODI.

Across their side, there were impressive innings from Keacy Carty, captain Shai Hope and Sherfane Rutherford in the second ODI with the latter coming into this game boasting a record of four successive ODI half-centuries. Carty chanced his arm on Saturday and we expect to see him do the same and play the aggressor role when he comes to the crease.

England Preview

It was an incredible victory for England and their supporters in Antigua on Saturday with plenty of notable happenings taking place. The question is though, can their stand-in captain, Liam Livingstone lead them to more success and a series win on Wednesday?

If he is to do so then we may well see him chopping and changing his bowlers on a regular basis once more. On Saturday he used nine bowlers in total, only the second time England have done that and the 19th occurrence ever in ODI cricket. However, it seems to work well for the tourists who have won both times they have used nine bowlers!

Weather Conditions

It will be humid from start to finish of this day-night ODI and there could well be some moisture in the pitch as well with plenty of rain forecast in the days before the game. The current forecast is for no rain during the match but that could change nearer the time and it will definitely be hot with the temperature expected to get above 30 degrees.

WI vs ENG Pitch Report

Although this pitch has sometimes been as flat as a pancake in recent Test matches, in ODIs it has been one where bowlers have managed to get on top of the batters. In the last game in this format at this venue, 15 wickets fell for only 397 runs and we could well see batters struggling on a two-paced wicket once more.

Toss: To Bowl

A look at the history books, the overhead conditions and moisture in the pitch should give the captains an easy decision to make at the toss on Wednesday. Our prediction is that both skippers will want to bowl first ahead of this game.
