UAE Women will take on Malaysia Women in the 3rd match of Women’s T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier 2025 at the Asian Institute of Technology Ground in Bangkok.

UAE Women’s toughest opponent in this tournament will be the hosts, Thailand, the only team they lost to in their recent quadrangular series here. There are some other quality teams as well, but Malaysia doesn’t seem as tough an opponent for the UAE.

Malaysia Women struggled with the bat in their last series in Kuala Lumpur against Namibia. Not only did they lose it 0-3 but they also failed to reach the 100-run mark in the series.

However, they have some promising bowlers including the skipper Winifred Duraisingam who was quite impressive against Namibia. Mahira Ismail and Nur Dania Syuhada are other key bowlers in the Malaysia squad to watch out for.

United Arab Emirates Preview

UAE have some promising batters in the top order. Skipper Esha Rohit Oza and her opening partner Theertha Satish have delivered some impressive knocks in their previous outings in Thailand.

The two are key batters for the UAE Women in the top order. Their form will be crucial for the UAE to reach a competitive total. It is not a high-scoring venue here in Bangkok and a good start would put the team on the track to a competitive total.

If they bat first and score something over 120-130, UAE Women will be in the winning position. At number 3, Rinitha Rajith will be another key player to watch out for.

She’s among the batters who’ve shown some promise with an impressive strike rate. The rest have struggled to score quickly but could still come in handy to build partnerships in the middle order.

Heena Hotchandani was pretty disappointing in her last few outings in Thailand with slow strike rates but Michelle Botha and Lavanya Keny have managed to get going at 5 and 6 respectively.

The lower-order batters could help UAE Women reach a good score after the top-order is back in the hut. There is great potential in the bowling attack. UAE Women successfully defended a 94-run target against Hong Kong Women at the Terdthai Cricket Ground in Bangkok.

Malaysia Preview

Malaysia Women have an uphill battle to fight as they come to Thailand for the T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier. They will be up against many highly competitive teams including UAE Women.

Malaysia’s batting hasn’t got much to write home about. On top of that, they will be up against a quality UAE bowling attack who’ve been impressive at the other venue in Thailand.

Skipper Duraisingam and wicket-keeper batter Wan Julia are the potential opening duo for Malaysia Women. Duraisingam scored in double digits only once in her last 3 innings while Julia couldn’t reach double figures even once.

The last time Malaysia Women played a T20I was back in December against Namibia in the home series. The hosts lost that series 3-0. There were a couple of bowlers like Syuhada and Duraisingam who delivered impressive spells.

However, the batting order failed big time. The highest score for Malaysia in that 3-match T20I series was 71 for 7 while batting first in the last game. They were bowled out for 74 runs while chasing a 102-run target in the second match.

Ainna Hamizah Hashim and Mahira Izzati Ismail are other key batters in the top 4 to watch out for. While there aren’t any reliable or consistent performers in this lineup these two have the potential to strike some crucial partnerships.

Weather Conditions

It will be partly cloudy in Bangkok with a high of 37 degrees Celsius. The overcast conditions should offer some assistance to the new-ball bowlers. We can expect a challenging powerplay in this match if either of the teams uses their pacers to kick things off.

UAE vs MAL Pitch Report

It is not a high-scoring venue with the average 1st innings score in 19 T20Is here being just 97 runs. However, UAE Women hold the record for highest total at this venue. They scored 203 runs against China Women while batting first in 2019. However, in this game, they will be facing a promising bowling attack and we reckon if they can manage to post 120 runs on the board, they will be in a very strong position.

Toss: To Bowl

Teams bowling first have won 11 of the 19 T20I matches played at this venue in Bangkok. The lowest score defended on this ground was 121 runs by India Women against Pakistan Women. We reckon anything around 100-120 should be chasable on this ground. However, considering the lack of batting options even a 105-run total seems a tough one in this match.
