NZ vs PAK Match Prediction & Analysis
This has been a one-sided tour and a one-sided series and it could well be that the thoughts within the Pakistan squad are something along the lines of βwhen can we get back home?β
One can only imagine what the scoreline in this series could have been if the Indian Premier League was not underway and other key players for New Zealand were available. Even when playing nowhere near their potential at times, the Black Caps have been able to sweep Pakistan aside many times across the last few weeks.
It was an 84 run victory for the Black Caps in Hamilton last time out but it could have been even more embarrassing for Pakistan if Naseem Shah, who came into the game as a concussion sub, hit 51, the second highest ODI score from a number 11 in history!
TEAMS PREVIEW
New Zealand Preview
The last game in Hamilton was a special one for keeper-batter Mitchell Hay with the 24 year old hitting his highest score in ODI cricket but finishing unbeaten and one run short of a century!
It was a crucial knock as New Zealand had looked in a spot of bother on 132/5 but once again they proved that they have more than capable batters throughout their order and were able to post a total which Pakistan never looked getting remotely near.
The Black Caps still have the likes of Henry Nicholls and Daryl Mitchell in the upper middle order and we expect one of them to go big in this match.
Pakistan Preview
Although Pakistanβs bowling attack produced some encouraging moments and figures in the second ODI, their top order completely let the side down and the experienced names in the batting line-up must stand up and be counted or else the tourists will be returning home with a 3-0 ODI series defeat.
All of Abdullah Shafique, Imam-ul-Haq, Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan and Salman Agha failed to get out of single figures with Aghaβs strike-rate of 60.00 the only one above 33.33! It will take a huge improvement to get this team firing again in this match and it will have to come from one of these five experienced players.
With the ball, Haris Rauf is likely to miss out due to concussion with Faheem Ashraf and Akif Javed expected to take on the attack leader mantle with the new ball.
Weather Conditions
There is a large amount of rain forecast in Mount Maunganui during Friday but the outlook for Saturday is for sunny spells throughout and the temperature in the mid-twenties.
NZ vs PAK Pitch Report
Like many of the other ground used in this series and tour, there will be assistance for the quick bowlers. When batting, players will need to get in and acclimatise to the conditions but must keep the scoreboard ticking along or else they will get stuck! A par score will be around 320-330 in the first innings.
Toss: To Bowl
Each of the last three ODIs at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui have been won by the team chasing so we predict that both teams will look to bowl first in this contest.
