Match 23 of IPL 2025 has Gujarat Titans going up against Rajasthan Royals this Wednesday in Ahmedabad. GT have looked sharp this season, winning three out of four games and sitting second on the table. RR had a rough start with back-to-back losses but bounced back by winning their next two, which has pushed them up to seventh place.

Gujarat Titans Preview

After a rough start at home in Ahmedabad, where they went down to Punjab, Gujarat Titans have bounced back with four straight wins and now sit second on the table. They’ve settled into a rhythm and are starting to look like the side everyone will want to avoid.

The top three are clicking well. Sai Sudharsan, Shubman Gill, and Jos Buttler have all looked solid. Sudharsan is leading the scoring charts for GT with 191 runs from four games at an average of 47.75 and a strike rate of 150.39.

Gill, after a couple of short stays, finally came through with an unbeaten 61 off 43 to take them past Sunrisers Hyderabad’s 153. That return to form couldn’t have come at a better time, especially with him going back to a ground where he averages over 60.

Sherfane Rutherford has quietly done the job in the middle as the Impact Sub, hammering 129 runs at a strike rate of 176.71 across four innings.

Rajasthan Royals Preview

Rajasthan Royals didn’t have the best start to IPL 2025, dropping their first two games. But since then, they’ve flipped the script with strong away wins over CSK and Punjab Kings. In their last outing, they outplayed Punjab by 50 runs after putting up a solid 205-4.

It was a near-perfect performance. Yashasvi Jaiswal found his groove again, scoring a fluent 67 off 45. Skipper Sanju Samson added 38 off 26, while Riyan Parag chipped in with a brisk 43* off 25.

The middle and lower order is starting to look dependable with Nitish Rana, Dhruv Jurel, and Shimron Hetmyer waiting in the wings. But for them to get into the action, Rajasthan still needs two of Jaiswal, Samson, or Parag to set the tone up top.

Weather Conditions

The first match of IPL 2025 at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, was an absolute road with nothing in it for the bowlers and over 475 runs being scored. However, the second one saw a much different surface, where the ball held up and there was something in it for both seamers and spinners. If we get a similar pitch, then the team batting first will look to capitalize the powerplay and then build the innings from there. Batting will get tougher in the second innings as the wicket starts to become slower.

The weather in Ahmedabad will be hot and dry with no forecast of rain.

GT vs RR Pitch Report

The average first innings score at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, is 173. The highest total posted here is Punjab Kings’ massive 243-5 in IPL 2025 against Gujarat Titans. With pitches becoming slower everywhere, expect both teams to target a first innings score of around 190 runs.

Toss: To Bat

Both the matches played at Ahmedabad this season have been won by the team batting first. Going by these numbers, we expect both captains to look to bat first and try and put on an above par score.
