West Indies batsmen were left bewildered by Sri Lankan spinners in the second ODI, as well. Brandon King and Shai Hope looked to take the attack to the pace bowler Asitha Fernando, but it backfired against them in the end. Their wickets created an opening that the hosts spinners would exploit later on.
West Indian batsmen were sitting ducks against the likes of Theekshana, Hasaranga on a slow, dry used surface. They couldnβt play out their full quota of overs and were skittled out inside 40. It could have been worse. Reduced to 58 for 8, the visitors had Rutherford and Motie come together and make some valuable runs for the 9th wicket, adding 119 runs to give their total a bit of respectability.
